try looking at the graffics card for power. most commonly is the prossesor got to hot and shut down. try replacement of prossesor

Go into Control Panel --> System --> Device Manager. Look for a Sound device or unknown multimedia device. Try updating the device to Realtek audio. Vista should have it's own Realtek audio drivers. If you can't find it, go here...
