I plug it in and nothing happens. I have 2 more mikes with the same story. The hit was so minor that I can't believe they don't work. Can they be salvaged? I have like $550 invested in somethin useless that I want to fix myself. Is it worth the effort?
I don't want to take them to a shop that is going to charge their price in eBay or a pawn shop.
How do I do it?
I have a multitester (volt meter) and soldering gun.
Mikes are very fragile things and if you consider that the wire on the diaphragm is hair thin then you will understand that when dropped it will break easily. Also the magnetic field of the magnet is distorted by the impact. If you can get the wiring connector apart where the mike cable plugs in try testing for continuity on the 2 wires coming from the cartridge. Use a high resistance reading and work downwards. If you get nothing you will have to decide whether you want to replace the cartridge or buy a new mike. Sorry for your bad luck. I have 2 AKG mikes circa 1966 that it happened to that I still keep as a reminder.
