This is the same problem im having. And the issue seems to be with Belkin as well. My laptop with vista shows excellent signal strength, but i cannot bring up any website. Does it have to do anything with WEP key or something?
Hi I seem to be having similar issues, however it appears after hrs on ph to Tiscali that they have been having inntermitent service issues so it is hard to say cause however it seems to habe improved since upping the MCU to 1452 on my laptop on xp but not on my vista machine.

connected to wireless router with excellent signal may not means you are connected to internet. make sure your modem provided by internet service provider has signal! connect your computer to modem directly bypassing router. If you are online that means your internet is functional. Then connect modem to your Linksys router and use your wireless to log on to internet. Your router wireless signal active and excellent means you are connected to router not necessarily the internet. The modem supplied by your internet service provider with active internet should be connected to you router on WAN port! good luck!!
The "excellent" is the signal-strength between your wireless adapter and your wireless router. You still need to select the SSID ("network name") that you configured into the router, and enter the password for your network, before you can connect to the Internet.
Compare it to having a brand-new mobile telephone. Until you dial a friend's number, and the friend answers, all you have is an "excellent" telephone.
check the wireless settings of the router . Make sure that you are typing the correct network key if your network is secured. May be you will need to open the ports on the router. Click Here for more information
If WLAN and Wireless cards are enabled, then you may have to unplug your router for 10 seconds to reset it. They tend to build up a static charge. Unplug wireless router for 10 seconds, plug back in and you should be fine in a minute or two with full connectivity
when you put the mouse over the network icon in your taskbar, it will say access: Local & Internet or local only.
if Local & internet you have a connection to the internet, if local only then open internet explorer, tools, internet options, connections and check that there is no default connection, it should be never dial a conection thats ticked or greyed out.
It is possible that you need to further fine tune your WEP configuration. To verify if it's the security lock, try running the laptop and the router without the WEP security (disabled) and determine if you still get the "Limited connection or no connectivity".
If yes, you have just eliminated that area and could consider other possibilities, otherwise you then have to concentrate on the WEP security.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back on any developments (or lack thereof) or should you need additional information.
