Thanks for the help, but i found the problem ! ! !  I forgot to use "Basics 101" ! ! !   The white (nuetral) wire that plugs into the module wire connector at the module had slipped out of the connector. It looked correct, but was not fully seated into the connector, so it was not contacting the module.  When I fully seated the white wire into the connector at the module, everything started working ! ! !

Always check the obvious "Basics" first ! ! !

                                          Thanks Again ! ! !

Hey fridgetech saw your comment here on the Modules.

This is the first ive heard of the tstat being why the module breaks. Im very interested ive recently had a recall on one where i replaced the module one month ago and the cust said recently it didnt make ice for days. Also I convert the standard service ice maker to fit the IDIMs. this means swapping out the stripper which requires splitting the housing from the mold, i did notice recently that the tstat was changed to a different style. I also dont put any more alumilastic on it it still has plenty on from the factory and i put put it back together. Do you see a problem with doing this?? Thanks for the help

First make sure the icemaker fill tube isn't frozen.  Was the module broken?  If so then you need to replace the icemaker thermostat (bi metal) also.  A bad thermostat is usually what causes the module to break.  The part # is 627986 and will need alumlastic to put between thermostat and mold.  Alumilastic part # is 542369.  You can get this at http://www3.sears.com/.  You can also use silicone grease in place of alumilastic.  You need this to make a good contact between the thermostat and mold for temp. sensing.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

    To the dr,

What happens is the thermostat isn't opening and closing at the right times and turning the heater off too soon in the cycle.  This puts a lot of stress on the ejector bar and breaks the module.  Actually I don't use alumilastic either, I use some food grade silicone grease.  This must be used to make a good contact with the mold so the tstat can sense the proper temp and not lead to the module breaking.

Whirlpool model # ed5vhexvq1 side by side ...ice maker will not dispense ice..water works but it sounds as if there is no power going to icemaker from dispenser

Does the icemaker bucket has ice cubes. If yes then your problem is in the dispensor. If no ice cubes on the icemaker bucket then your problem is with the ice maker unit.

Let say Ice cubes on the ice maker bucket and dispensor makes noise when pressing for ice cubes. Then either your ice dispensor flapper is frozen or may be ice cubes in bucket may have defrost and frozen again sticking together.

Icemaker is not making ice cubes. fridge is 3 months old.

Well if your ice cube bucket is on the freezer door it self then it could be anything from the optics system to a bad icemaker to a water valve issue...if its located on the side freezer wall. the water valve could be bad or the i/m module/icemaker

Whirlpool ice maker ,no harvest?

Hi, The optics almost never go in those unit's, the problem is in the icemaker module itself. If you can jump it thru a fill and then no advancing thru to harvest afterward ( provided your freezer is below freezing ) it's the module. You can either replace just the head/module or the entire icemaker. For the difference of only about $50 I always replace the complete assembly. The most common one being about $150 complete, # 2198597 and this should be the one for your fridge since you mentioned the optic component's. Hope that help's. Thanks for choosing "fixya" for your fridge inquiry. Please take a moment and rate this solution if indeed it solves your problem. Thanks again and good luck. Macmarkus :)

Whirlpool side by side GD27DQXFW01; ice cubes are not dispensing

We will need to check the voltage at the auger motor while depressing the dispense switch. If all the other features work on the dispenser panel while I would consider checking the voltage going to the motor. Some auger motors are in areas where water causes the voltage to be shorted by constant moisture. We will need to remove the panel and simulate what you have done on the outside but this time we need to see if the voltage has been altered or if the auger motor itself is defective. Sea Breeze

No ice being made

Pour about 1/2 cup of water into icemaker . If it dumps the cubes but does not fill with water , replace the water valve ( the part that the line from the wall connects to on the fridge ) . If the icemaker does not dump the cubes , replace the icemaker . Be sure the coils are clean of dust , lint , etc... as this will not let the freezer get cold enough for the icemaker to dump .

you likely need a new icemaker (part # 2198597) i would visit the following website to help determine this fact.  http://fixitnow.com/sbrvrs/icemakers.htm
