Cuts out for a second when watching dvd's and then resumes

When watching dvd's, only dvds on my PS3, it cuts out(sound and video go blank) for a brief second and then resumes where it left off almost as if it is having trouble keeping up with the upscaling process. It does it on every dvd just once per dvd and it last for only a second. I have rewound the dvd and then played back over the same spot with no problem. I have tried many different dvd's new and old.

My ps3 won't play DVDs in Brazil it says the DVD zone is not suported?

DVDs have reigon codes. A PS3 sold in the US will only play DVDs and Blu-Rays that have a region code of 1. DVDs sold in Brazil have the region code of 4, so they will not work.

Ok i purchased the sony ps3 on december 2008 for xmas. it has been going perfectly until a month ago, when my dvds didnt work any more. the ps3 would come on and would go into home page with video, games,...

Well this sounds like a few possible things.

--Bad Bluray drive (95% sure)
and
--Video settings are messed up (55%not as sure about)

Generally if your system won't play Dvds but it will play games then your drive has gone bad unless you don't mind not watching dvds. To fix this it is pretty easy I myself do it frequently with my little biz. The part cost about $80 at consolezombie.com I would gladly replace your drive for you and not charge you an arm and a leg!

As for the screen issue, it may be that your plugs arent in correctly, they could have gone bad, or your video settings aren't correct.

If your using the usual component cables (yellow red white) then you may want to look into getting an HDMI cord if your tv supports it. Better picture and sound quality from an already amazing system.

What has happend to me with my settings is that in the Main settings menu go under display and they should be an option about video output (or something similar) and you can change it to which ever you want. But if you can't get to it because the screen is blank then I'd say get an HDMI cable or a somposite cable (red blue green) to replace your component cable.

An easy way to reset your display settings on your system is to push the power button and hold for 5sec(while in standby mode) or until you hear 2 beeps (after the initial one from pushing the button) and then it should be reset.

PS3 will play blu-rays just fine, but not DVD

A bad laser could affect the sound cause it can't read all the information from the disc. Try games as well and see if it does the same thing, sounds like a new drive is in order. There is one laser in those drives and require different strengths to read different discs. Also try a music disc that you know is good. If your still getting the same issue then get the drive replaced or just replace the laser if you have some technical knowledge.

My PS3 won't play DVDs or Blu-ray.

You may need to format the entire system and then update if you really need to watch the DVD that badly

you can move gamesaves to a memorystick before hand so you dont lost anything apart from demos and pics

pls rate.

American DVDs unable to play for my PS3

At this time the region lock on ps3 only includes DVD and ps1-2 titles. Although some games will have the 80028F10 error. Most ps3 and blue ray will play without problems, my only suggestion being that if you are in the US, make sure you get a US ps3.

hope this helps.

Aquos Turns off by itself

How many times per second does the POWER led blink? (dont worry about the OPC).

1x per second (constant, steady blink) = bad inverter/lamps
2x per second = bad power supply
3x per second = bad main board

There isnt really anything you can do to fix it yourself, you can order the part over EBay, not hard to install just unscrew/unplug --- plug/screw..
