Lamp will not strike error message

I have confirmed the bulb is good, however unit will start and try to light the lamp. It goes through count down, gets to 4 and reads "retrying". It does this several times then show the "Lamp will not strike" message.
Fan is on, red light is flashing above power button. Same exact problem on 2 of my LP120 projectors; The bulb is fine

Hi Folks

I had a bulb "expire" on me (went out early), giving the "Lamp didn't strike" message. I replaced it with a spare and unfortunately that gave the same message. I RMA'd it to InFocus who "fixed" it, citing a bad bulb. "What about the spare I used?" I asked. "Oh well" was the answer.

I got the projector back, tested it and it worked fine. So I decided to test the spare bulb I had previously, still got the "Lamp didn't strike". I thought "bad bulb after all". So I put the bulb InFocus had fixed the projector with back in, started the projector and received the "Lamp didn't strike". (ie, a known good bulb). Oh ****.

I left the cover off, jimmied the safety catch and restarted the projector, heard some snapping which reminded me of a bad electrical connection. I popped the top cover off the projector and saw where the electrical plug was that the lamp plugged into. It looked fine from the top-side and the bulb compartment, but when I used a small screwdriver and pushed on it, it dropped a quarter inch and a little plastic tab reseated itself. I realized when I had put the spare bulb in initially it had pushed on the electrical connector, not quite lined up, and pushed it up slightly into the body of the projector. The bulbs looked like they were plugging in, but the connector had moved enough the bulb wasn't making contact, so not getting power through the plug. Once I pushed the connector back down into place, I put my original "spare" bulb in, carefully lined up the connectors, and it fired up fine. (Big relief).

If you know the bulb is good, then you sounds like your ballast is bad.

Lp600 won't strike

If you replace the lamp but do not reset the lamp hours then the projector will not ignite the lamp to stop it blowing up the lamp and causing further problems. You can reset the hours without the image, on the x2 version you turned on for 1 minute then held down the volume up and down buttons for 10 seconds but all versions vary. The infocus website can usually tell you how though you may have to look for it a bit. Failing that try a firmware update available from the infocus website that should erase its brain so you can start again, hopefully you have kept the original leads it was shipped with to do this otherwise it will cost you another £20

LP540 Projector Lamp Does Not come on> it has an error message; "Lamp didn't Strike". Does that mean the Lamp/Bulb is bad?

Hi,
It's most likely the lamp is bad or the part that starts the lamp called a ballast is bad. The LP540 model has an issue with the ballast burning out. The ballast is a part that starts or strikes the lamp. The only sure way to test is to try starting it with a known good lamp.
You can check for signs of a bad lamp. Think about how long you've had your projector & estimate the total hours on your lamp. If it's over 500 it very well could be the lamp as they fail at any time. Remove the lamp cover door & pull out the lamp to visually inspect it. Look in good light & use a magnifier if available too check for any cracks or chips in the small bulb & look to see if the round part of the small bulb is covered with a lot of white or if it's not round anymore. If it's very white it means it has a lot of hours on it. If there's any loose glass inside (check by turning the lamp cage in different directions) then the lamp is bad. If it's nice & clear or has only a small white spot it's probably a good lamp.
I repair almost all Infocus models if you need a quote.
Thanks & good luck,
Jim

I have a 50 inch Sony Wega and the TV is not coming on,the TV flashes green for about 45 seconds and then flashes red. The lamp light is not lit up, and the TV sounds like it wants to come on but it does...

ok then, it sounds like it is trying to strike the lamp on some of these Sony projections it will keep trying to strike the lamp even though the bulb is no good. The lamp error detection may not be working correctly, there is a detector loop around the ballast and if it is not positioned correctly it cannot correctly detect a bad lamp. Try removing the lamp and see if it is physically damaged, if not it still may be bad and is the most common cause for a no error condition and no light problem.

Lamp will not strike error message

this can sometimes indicate either an overheating issue, a lamp service life problem, or that the cover to the lamp housing has not been secured properly.

Infocus 540 lamp didnt strike keep trying

if mains is ok and fan running ok, could be a bulb service issue, all lcd projectors have an internal lamp life counter which counts down and once the lamp has reached the end of its life it will not fire up and a new bulb will be required.

WD-62327 Lamp

OSRAM VS. PHILLIPS
This is about buying replacement bulbs for the WD62327 TVs.I dont know about the other models but I purchased a PHILLIPS replacement bulb and it worked for about a week and then those dumb flashing lights and no TV. I did some research and others were saying that you had to replace some condensers. Shop would do it for 600 dollars..Well i sent the bulb back and bought an OSRAM replaement bulb. The TV is now working perfect.
