Try the SD card in your computer, see if it is corrupted. If not, copy the files off of it and then re-format it - then try it in your phone.
If that does not work, try a fresh SD card in the phone (maybe borrow one?)
If that fails too, it may well be that the internal SD card reader in the phone has gone bad.

My device is not a cellphone. Its an android but i followed some of your directions.

unmounting allows for safe removal of the sd card from device, meaning when you unmount the device doesn't read the sd card anymore until you remove it and insert again...erase basically formats the sd card

Says my sd card is unmounted or no files are on it. what happened to my files?

When you remove an SD card from its slot, you should *unmount* it first so you don't lose data. If you just pull it
out without first unmounting it, you could corrupt it and lose
data. This might have happened in your case or not. If you didn't remove it, try this.

Go to Settings>Storage>External SD, touch Unmount.
Then remove your SD card and using a Q-Tip and some
solvent like alcohol clean the copper contacts. Then slide it
back into the slot. The device should *Mount* it automatically.

If it still doesn't work, you could try hooking your device up to a computer via its USB cable and see if your computer can see any files on it. If it can't see any then somehow they could have gotten erased. Try loading them back. If they won't load and you get error messages, the SD card itself may have gone Kaput.

Binatone Homesurf 744 - put in micro SD card but nothing will save to it although it says it is there (can unmount it).

Please make sure the capacity of your microSD card is not larger than the maximum card capacity allowed by your device. For example, if the maximum card capacity allowed by your device is 16 GB and your card capacity is 32 GB, your device may not recognize it. And is the "unmount SD card" option grayed out or solid ?

Hope this helps.

Was having problems with mini SD card in my HTC Desire S as it kept unmounting. Following advice from work colleagues and forums, I transferred all my stored memory from the mini SD card to my laptop

I don't think you lost your pictures. Same thing happened to my phone. I brought it to the HTC Service Center and they upgraded the software. I suggest you take it to the nearest HTC Service Center so the problem can be resolved.

Htc phone saying memory full. i've only had my phone for a little over 1 month and have downloaded very little. how do i move to sd card and how do i save apps to sd card

Make sure your sd card is not corrupt. It should auto save to your sd card. You will probably want a card that is at least 2gb. Go into settings, sd card and phone storage, and make sure unmount sd card is brightest. This means that your card is in and recognized. At the bottom of that screen, you should see internal phone storage, here it will tell you how much memory is free outside of the sd card. You will want this to have at least 100mb free so that the phone can operate at is smoothest.

How do i upload pics from my htc hero to my computer

Its in the manual. If you don't have one download it from HTC. It answers a lot of questions. You'll also might need to download HTC sync from their website as well. But you'll need to plug the phone into a usb port with the cable that came with the phone. When the computer sees the phone then you have to unmount the sd card. There will be a notice in the notifications bar on the phone. Just click unmount. it should show up as a drive on the computer. just remember MOUNT the sd card again BEFORE you unplug it from the computer. You could trash the sd card!!

Sd card, or device error when copying music files

If you are trying to play the file then it will be unmounted as it needs to disconnect from the pc to do that you could try copying them in batches if that doesnt work it may be a USB driver fault in which case i would reccomend reinstalling the G1 driver.
