Touchpads are really sensitive to the type of charger and cable that is required to charge them. I have had trouble charging mine in the past, but the best form of charger appears to be a touchstone.
It might me worthwhile getting a specific USB charger for the Touchpad that provides enough output. A normal phone charger does not have sufficient power.
Quote from another source:
If you have connected your HP Touchpad to the charger only to find that a charging symbol is perpetually displayed, you will probably need to reset the tablet.
This is done by holding the power and home buttons at the same time for around 15 seconds. During this time, the tablet should shut down, restart and then boot into the installed operating system - albeit with a very low charge.
look on the back and it should tell you ,if not got for 6 volts as this is what most of them are ,you will not blow anything up with this voltage but a 12v charger might just do that ands destroy it
To hard reset a tablet, hold the power button down until it shuts off then press it to turn back on. Should take about 5 - 10 seconds for the device to power off.
Ifthe laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be wornout. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cyclesand will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up atall.
ORThe battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected thebattery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time.
Ifthe battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to bereplaced.
