To NOT get that error you need to use in AV mode. It's the only way that old Sigmas work with the new Canons. It's an aperture bug that old Sigma lens have and some the only way to fix it is to rechip it. The problem is that Sigma no longer rechips the lens.

Sigma 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DL Aspherical IF Hyperzoom Autofocus Lens for canon slr compatible with Canon t3i dslr

Sigma produces lenses for different brands of camera's. The optics are the same, but the connection differs from brand to brand. So if you have a Sigma lens for Nikon, you won't be able to use it on a Canon or Sony. Unless you buy a adapter. But when you start using an adapter, you will lose the Af in most cases, because the electronic in the lenses differ also. and that can't be bridged.

From working with third party lenses in the past what I've found is that Canon doesn't give up the "chip" technology so the older lens can not talk to the newer cameras. I suspect that Canon does this to promote their lenses over the competition. You might be able to send the lens to Sigma and have them re-chip it and have a great lens again.

Does a sigma 70-300mm dl macro fits on a canon 500d camera?

Yes, if you get one with a Canon mount. Sigma makes their lenses available with a variety of mounts; a lens with a Nikon mount, for example, will not fit on a Canon camera.

Is the Sigma 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 DL Aspherical Hyperzoom Macro Autofocus Lens compatable with the Canon D60 body?

Hi It might work the way to test is to fit it 2 the D60 set the camera to av and a iris of F16/22 use the stopdown button if the lens stops down your ok if nothing happens it will need a rechip but I think the the rechips are no longer avabil

Can I buy an adapter to use the 28-200 mm Sigma Aspherical lens fitted to my Pentax MZ-50 film camera on my Canon EOS 1000d DSLR. Would it work?

You may be able to find an adaptor, but I doubt it and you would lose many functions in any case. It could end up that the lens will not auto focus or that it would not meter properly. These adaptors are made so that specialty lenses (such as fisheye or shift lenses) can be mounted on cameras when needed. Your 28-200 would probably be cheaper to by in an EOS mount.
