You can order new lid w/ hinge for $15 from manufacturer (http://www.crock-pot.com/customerservice.aspx) or I have been told they'll send it for free if you contact them (https://secure.crock-pot.com/contactus.aspx) and say the hinge broke. Might depend how old your unit is.

I called on mine (same purchase place and time but they did not ask). they are sending me a new lid for free. mine broke months ago but i have just used it very carefully prying open the lid.

it does sound like there is a problem but at least they are providing a free replacemnet.

The lid hinge is only a convenience thing. Most crock pots don't have hinges. So, unless the hinge affects the functioning of the pot, It is really not rendered useless. If you don't want to buy a new one or can't find a replacement hinge then simply clean up the break so it doesn't interfere with place the cover on. Good luck

If you have your receipt and its less than 1 yr old, you can call RIval Products at 800-323-9519 and ask for the number to fax your receipt and they will send you a replacement.

But if its over 1yr old you can call and tell them how old your crock pot is and they "MIGHT" have you cut the cord and mail it in and send you another. If it wasn't used very much and they say there is nothing they can do about it, ask for a supervisor. And voice your disappointment in that model.

If nothing else, they might be able to guide you to purchase another hinge.

I had this same broken lid handle problem so I called the 800 number on the crock-pot.com website and got right through to a live person. Since my product is still under warranty (they asked for the manufacturing date code on the plug), instead of providing me a replacement part, which the very nice woman said is unavailable, they are sending me a whole new crock-pot. Not the same model (which the nice woman also said is unavailable) but a comparable unit which is OK with me. Maybe this is their solution to the lid hinge and handle problems.

you cant. those hinged lids are junk and you cant get one of those either. you might as well just buy a whole new crockpot that doesnt have that lid. those lids always break.. if you have your receipt you should try calling that company and if they feel like it.. they might replace hit.. haha good luck though!
