Yes you can. I bought led headlights for my 1948 fod. They are nice and bright. Before you replace your head lights check to make sure you have a good ground from the battery to the body.
The silverstar bulbs while brighter, have a considerably shorter life span than conventional bulbs. If the headlights are dim, it would mean a bad electrical connection most commonly a bad ground. If they are just too dim for your liking and burn at the normal brightness, you might want to consider having auxilliary headlamps installed.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Sealed Beam NOTE: If vehicle is equipped with headlamp doors turn the headlight switch ON. Open the hood and locate the power distribution center. This center is located in the front of the left front strut tower. Remove the cover from the center and remove the Headlamp Close Relay. This will prevent the headlamp doors from closing to provide easier servicing. Turn the headlight switch to OFF, then perform this repair.
Remove the headlight bezel.
Unhook the spring from the headlight retaining ring if so equipped.
Unscrew the retaining ring and remove it.
NOTE: Do not disturb the two long aiming screws. Conventional and Halogen headlamp sealed beams units are interchangeable in pairs, but it is recommended that they not be mixed together (one halogen and one conventional). It is fine to upgrade from conventional bulbs to halogen, but do not change from halogen bulbs to conventional bulbs, especially if the vehicle came equipped with halogen bulbs.
Unplug the old sealed beam from the engine electrical wiring harness.
Extract the old bulb from its mounting bracket.
To install:
Connect the replacement bulb and install it into the receptacle (check operation of headlight before completing repair).
Install the retaining ring and secure it in place with the retaining screws. Connect the spring.
Install the headlight bezel.
Aero Headlamp
Aero headlamp systems use replaceable halogen bulbs that are mounted in aerodynamic, molded plastic lens reflector assemblies.
NOTE: Lens fogging is a normal condition and does not require service, as moisture will vent from tubes behind the lens on Aero headlamp-type system. EXCEPT PREMIER AND MONACO
It may be necessary to remove the entire headlamp assembly if enough access cannot be gained otherwise.
Locate and remove the wire connector behind the headlamp assembly in the engine compartment. It may be necessary to remove certain items in the engine compartment to gain access to the bulb wires.
Rotate the bulb retaining ring counterclockwise 1?4 turn and remove the ring, bulb and bulb holder from the lens assembly. The bulb holder has alignment notches.
NOTE: Do not touch the bulb with bare fingers or any possibly oily surface, since reduced bulb life may result!

Fig. 2: . . . remove the light bulb socket retaining ring
Fig. 3: Rotate the light bulb socket 1?4 turn counter-clockwise, then pull it straight out of the lens assembly
To install:
Wearing gloves or holding the replacement bulb with a cloth rag to keep oil off of the bulb surface, insert the bulb into the rear hole of the headlamp assembly. Make certain that the alignment grooves and tabs line up, push the light bulb into the assembly until seated flush, then turn the bulb clockwise 1?4 turn.
Plug the electrical light bulb wiring harness into the new light bulb. Install any items removed from the engine compartment.
PREMIER AND MONACO
Unlike the other vehicles covered by this manual, the removal and installation of the headlamp bulbs in the Premier and Monaco models requires the extraction of the entire headlamp lens assembly.
Remove the grille-to-headlamp assembly attaching screws.
Disconnect the headlamp aiming cable from the aiming screw end.
Remove the headlamp assembly attaching bolts from above and behind the lamp assembly and separate the lamp assembly from the vehicle.
Unplug the headlamp wire connector.
NOTE: Do not touch the bulb with bare fingers or any possibly oily surface, since reduced bulb life may result!
Rotate the socket counterclockwise 1?4 turn and pull the socket from the back of the lens assembly.

Make certain that the alignment grooves and tabs line up, push the light bulb into the assembly until seated flush, then turn the bulb clockwise 1?4 turn.

# Wear bright clothing. Those black leather jackets look good in the day, but for the night, you might want to consider wearing something that reflects light. Consider adding a fluorescent highlights on the back of your jacket, a smart message maybe. Your helmet is also a nice place for the same.
# Motorcycle Lighting: Good lighting is a crucial factor in your safety. In the quest for stylish lighting, many manufacturers use undersized brake lighting and most will aim the headlight lower to the street than the legal angle allows. Your first step is to examine your front and rear lighting. If you have a tiny brake light, consider replacing the light with a larger model. If this is not possible, J.C. Whitney sells a halogen brake lamp for about $10.00 that is 30% brighter than stock bulbs. You can also buy super bright LED lighting that is much brighter than the typical automotive bulb. However, this lighting should be purchased from a specialty company and not the "garden variety" LED arrays you can find at some stores for $15.00 or less. UltraBright LED's are expensive when using true Ultrabight LED (light emitting diodes). Expect to pay more if you want a truly bright LED system. Custom Dynamics is one such supplier of premium LED lighting.
# Check your headlight aiming angle. Check your state regulation on aiming. Raise the beam to the maximum angle allowed by your state. You can do this without special tools by uprighting your bike and casting the headlight on the wall of your garage. Measure from the ground to the exact center of your headlight, then adjust the beam projected on the wall (high beam). A rule of thumb is to drop 2" for every 10 feet (5 cm every 3 metres), but you should check with your state to conform with their regulations.
# Ride with your high beam on always during the day!
# Add dual running headlights to your motorcycle. Three properly aimed headlights are much more noticeable than a single headlight.
# Consider replacing your headlamp bulb with a super bright DOT approved model. Some bikers have been known to replace their headlight bulb with a non-DOT approved off-road lamp which is 40-50% brighter than the brightest legal lamp.
# Add reflective tape to your bike. You can also purchase reflective decals and add reflective flame decals to your helmet.
