Question about Dell 725 InkJet Printer
When I print, I get a message that says there is a communication problem. I have power and I bought a new USB cable, but both do not seem to work.
Try connecting the USB cable directly to the computer not via a HYB.
Try another USB port on the computer.
If that doesn't solve the problem there is most likely a problem with the printer.

most easiest fix for this.. make sure in the properties of that printer.. under the PORT tab. make sure its set to usb not LPT. this is very common error.

This kind of issue might occur due to many reasons, like:
the previous installation files creating a glitch for new software.
goto devicemanager by following:
start->run->devmgmt.msc (type in the box)
check if you have printers with exclamation mark or any special symbol showing a problem with the device.
try updating the drivers,
a more feasible solution could be removing the usb composite device entries from the tree under usb section but this should be done only by a skilled technician.

I have seen that in most of the cases (with lexmark and dell printers) it is fixed by reinstalling the printer software. Be sure that you completely remove the older drivers using the cd or using add/remove programs.

that doesn't help, try the steps below:
Disconnect the printer from your computer.
Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it.
On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
Delete the Lexmark print object.
Reboot your pc.
When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.
Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control
Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the
list again, then try to print again.
