Howdy
I have a WS-55807 and after moving it to check some wires today, the screen now has bad shadows. The problem is that the shadows are not red or blue, but grey. What would cause this problem and how can I fix it?
I have reset it to the factory settings and had to do some major convergence work, but it still has the same problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
wires were never unhooked, so it has to be the lamp adjustment. If words on th screen have a grey to black shadow, which lamp could be the one that got messed up?

You need to turn down the voltage on all 3 crt's. You have a red one, a blue one and a green one. Slowly adjust the knob down until you don't see the shadow any more. Then adjust your color in the user menu.
You have either bad convergence ICs or just bad grounds on the IC. I would go ahead and replace the ICs and check those small ohm resistors, as you have to pull the signal board out anyway. For futher instructions see the website www.TvRepairKits.com. They may have what you are looking for. Be sure you have the TV model number next to you. Ok try turning the tv of for 40 minutes by the power point and back on. that
way it will reset picture - and should go back to normal please let
me now how this goes ((By a rating
Make sure you un plugged it by the power point for the 40 minutes also make sure there is no speakers or anything magnetic within 60cm's of the tv this can also cause the picture to have strange colors in the screen - if that happens simple do the above

finally a consumer that gives us plenty of info :)
sounds like an overdriven green tube, the only thing you can try is to find the G2/Focus block assembly, either behind front speaker grill or remove back of set and look for a black box approximately 5"X5" , this box will have 6 philips type adjustment screws(plastic) 3 are for focus, do NOT adjust these,
the other 3 are marked "screen" the center screen adjustment screw is for green, turn it VERY slowly counterclockwise while the set is running and pray that your problem dis-appears, be advised that this is a HIGH VOLTAGE device so one hand in your back pocket the other hand turns the screwdriver, if the problem does not go away you have a poor green tube, good luck, sorry I can`t give you the exact location of the G2/Focus block, manufacturers move them to different places every year.
you could be on the right track get some freeze spray and go around all the parts to see if you can make it act up, same with heatgun or hair dryer when first turned on heat one area at a time to narrow your problem down
You have a convergence problem, and the sooner you get the set into the shop the less it will cost you. It seems that you may only have bad or cold solder connections on the stk convergence ics. If you keep hitting it to fix it, its goingg to surge the parts then youll be looking at 300 bucks or more to repair. GET THAT SET IN ASAP. Good Luck
