i have the same problem, when i try to warm boot the computer the only thing that comes on is the "toshiba" logo and then it goes to the screen that says "start windows normally" or "launch repairs (recommended) " but when i launch the repairs it keeps asking for a disk or hard drive but i have no idea how to obtain those...then if i try and start windows normally it just does the same thing!!! i even tried taking the battery out and putting it back in but thats not working either. please help!!!

I have a toshiba with windows vista on it,but now when I turn it on,it has options that you can either run it normally or repair and run.But when I choose run it normally,it just shows the logo "toshiba" and says microsoft corperation and shows a progressing bar and just gets stuck there. When I choose repair and run,it just becomes black and later shows an errow and nothing would come up. I tried F8 safe mode but it didnt work at all.

Is it dark blue right away when you turn on the computer?
Are you able to see the BIOS screen?

If you are able to see the BIOS screen or the manufacturer screen, press F8 then try safe mode,
Try to run system restore from there.

If safe mode is not accessible, try to boot it up using your windows disk and run repair from it.
If repair is not accessible, then reinstall the operating system.

Which OS are you using? Windows xp, vista, or windows 7?
You can try this:
turn off and turn it back on
as soon as you turn it on, keep pressing F8, you will see another screen which gives you options, choose option says Last known good configuration to see if it takes you all the way to your desktop. Let me know.
Thanks

Try removing the battery and using the laptop only with wall power.

I have a windows vista which keeps having blue screen and is unable to be turned on sometimes after the blue and i have to wait for a while to be able to switch it on again. any ways to fix it ? thanks

Look at the power settings. The system may be going to sleep, the hard drive shutting down, display blanking by the computer and the monitor itself all can play a part in your problem.

The delay in recovering from sleep in considerable, hybernate is worse, meaning delay.

Windows Vista

What you need is Disable and Turn Off ClearType Fonts in Windows Vista

Windows Vista by default applies ClearType effect to the fonts displayed on screen, in order to improve the appearance of text on certain types of computer display screens, especially LCD flat-panel monitors. As ClearType text actually sacrifices color or chrominance details aspect of image quality for light and dark or luminance detail, some people may not like the blurry font style in ClearType. Here’s a easy way to disable or turn off ClearType in Windows Vista.

1. Right click on any blank spot of desktop, and then select Personalize on pop-up context menu.
2. Select Window Color and Appearance.
3. Click on “Open classic appearance properties for more color options” link located at the bottom of the page.
4. Click on the Effects button.
5. Do one of the following:

Uncheck (untick) the “Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts” box.

or

Select “Standard” to replace ClearType in the drop down list under the above title.
6. Click OK, then click Apply, and finally finish with clicking OK again.

To enable or turn on ClearType effect again, simply reverse the setting in the Effects step.

Screen goes blank

Try to load to safemode by restarting the pc and hitting F8 before loading the windows, after you load to safemode right click on desktop screen and hit properties and check if you change the size of screen?or the setting there? also look for the device manager of your vedio card and check if it works properly.
If all this not working this means your vga converter has problem this is card inside your laptop mostly happen with dell laptops, if you donot want to change it now, try to see if you have external screen port and connect your laptop to external screen.
Let me know wat happen?

Best Regards
