My Whirlpool Microwave MH7100XYB0 suddenly stopped working. The light in the interior works, but the keys don't. The word FAIL shows on the panel. Nothing I press seems to work. The clock and timer wont come back on. I tried to unplug it and plug it back in and the word FAIL reappears.

This may have already been dealt with, but others can benefit from an accurate, thoughtful reply to this problem.
Is it possible that some spray cleaner got into the controls?
I always recommend that users instead spray cleaner on a soft cloth then wipe the control panel.
Also, I always recommend non-ammonia cleaners since ammonia can crack and damage plastic.
Otherwise, the spray can get into the controls and lock it up or make it act odd.
If it does not dry out over time, it may need to be manually dried or blown out.
The keypad may be damaged or worn out, or control unit may be damaged.

keypad on over the range microwave (Maytag) has been intermittent, but now no keys work. I thought it might be the door latch involved, but that's not it.
Thanks for any advice.
Light comes on but display panel only shows 88:88
Cannot set clock, timer, etc. Does not work at all
