Question about Acer Aspire 3610 Notebook

1 Answer

512 Mb memory upgrade

Hi, I installed another 512 of ram and sometimes the computer will not boot. The power turns on and I get a black screen, Also if it does boot, it does not recognize the additional 512. The new stick is correct. If I put the new stick in the first slot alone the computer will boot. If I put both in, even if it boots, only shows the 512.  Trying to get to the magic gig. Help please!!! Thanks

Looking over at crucial.com it says that your A30 can use PC2700 and PC3200 DDR. Maybe go other there and see if your new ram matches what they sell. I know it's not much but maybe a start.

Hello i can't install a AGP 512 videocart I bought

your computer needs more than the video card ram amount to use a particular video card. if you do not have at least 512mb of system ram, that may be your problem. if you have sufficient ram, then you do not have a powerful enough power supply for the new card.

Boot up problem

Tough one, have you tried to get into safe mode? When you turn on the power switch on keep hitting F8 continuously until a command comes on the screen. It will give you options for safe mode where you can run checks and scans to find a problem. Either that or the hard drive died.
Hope it helps.

Black screen on Boot

1. Check the memory modules are correctly installed.
2. Check that all the installed ram is DDR3 - this board will not accept DDR2 andDDR3 together.
3. If you have more than one memory module remove one and try booting. If all is ok try just the other one.
4.Try with DDR2 memory

Just installed additional 512 MG of RAM now computer will not bootup and keyboard will not work.

It's most likely not seated correctly or it's incompatible with your pc or it may be that it has to be similar in size to previously installed ram ... I suggest removing the ram you put in and rebooting ... if this gets you back up and running, then you may try installing this ram and leaving the other out... let me know how it goes... and if I can help further..
