Message started out as misalignment and went to clear carrier jam.THERE is nothing I can see that is jamming the carrier. The carrier wants to slam back and forth and comes up with the same message.
>> Remove the print cartridges.
>> Gently move the carriage from Right to Lift, Left to Right twice.
>> Re-insert the print cartridges
>> Try printing.

If the printer carrier is slamming into the side of the printer, please try the following:
Disconnect the power supply from the back of the printer.
Open the front cover of the printer where the cartridges are located.
Look for two black bands that span from left to right (they should have one serrated side and one smooth side). Just above the black bands there is a transparentstrip; this strip is called the Encoder strip.
Flick this strip lightly with your finger to make sure that it is running smoothly from left to right. You may need to do this two or three times. CAUTION: Do not pull the strip!
Close the front cover of the printer and reconnect the power supply.
If the problem persists, then its a hardware issue and you should contact Lexmark for replacement of the printer.
Look for little pieces of paper that get stuck in the rollers, also verify that the gears and roller didn't get misaligned when you cleared the jam.
Good Luck,
From what you are saying you are getting 'clear carrier jam' because of
a misalignment. The jam error message is a generic message that applies
to a multitude of things. The carrier while is in right, might not be
sitting right. A piece of plastic that holds the carrier might be
broken or the printhead might be messed up. Anything that causes it to
not sit the way it wants will cause that error message.
I loaded to new cartridges into the printer, switched it on, cartrigde went from one side to the other with a bang, error on printer reads, clear the carrier jam, cn you help? ed
The top of my ink cartridge had fallen off and was in the printer... I hadn't seen any paper or anything and was completely stumped, when I picked it up and heard something in there... It was hard to get back on, but now it works!
