Question about Toshiba 46HM95 46" HDTV
Thanks Denis39 but the problem I have is not the light ,but the light engine. they are $456.00 on parts. com, however they are on back order(wonder why?) Can't seem to locate one any cheaper. Its another$189.00 dollars to have it installed. Anyone know where I can get one cheaper let me know Thanks

On a 44NHM84 picture slowly darkened over a year. Changed the bulb - no difference. Opened up the light tunnel and one reflector mirror was badly corroded. Stuck on a piece of Plate glass mirror and alls well.

Same problem here with the 46HM95. Bulb went out 3 times within the first year of owning it. The first time, I was told the bulb was on back order and would take roughly 3 weeks to come in. Reason given for back order: It was during the Christmas season.. Toshiba bulbs must've been a pretty popular gift in '05 :) After the 3rd bulb went out, called Toshiba and talked with them about replacing the entire TV. I was told by their agent and supervisor that they do not have to honor the Lemon Law.. Only the place where I bought it from, then hung up on me when I said that was untrue. The light engine(color wheel) has been humming very loudly for the past year, and occasionaly stops working and the picture goes from red, blue, green until it stops, then tv resets. Nothing but problems.. Not to mention the constant 34w of power it uses when it's in stand-by mode.. That's only about $50 extra a year on the electric bill, but still.. 34w?? A class action lawsuit sounds good. I've had the TV for about 2.5 yrs and it's only worked correctly for the first 3 months.

UPDATE: as i posted before i have a toshiba 46hm95 with the same problems as everyone else. my light engine blew and it was out of warranty. after calling and calling them speaking to managers toshiba covered the cost of the light engine $500.00. the only problem i had to cover the cost of the labor . that was fine with me since it was out of warranty. now 2 weeks went by with out the tv and i got a call from toshiba telling me that the light engine was on back order. after 7 week waiting for the part and another week waiting for the place to fix it. i got the tv back put it back into the living room pluged it in and it worked for 15 minutes. YES 15 MINUTES. i took it back to the shop and come to find out the light engine that toshiba shipped them was bad. YES BAD. they shipped a junk light engine. so again i called them back to find out the light engine was on back order.so toshiba called me and offered me a refurb t.v. can i please have the same tv with the same problems. i will NEVER buy a toshiba product again!!!!!!!!!!!!

$500 for part is a little high, but $500 for labor is alot high! Call other shops and ask them for pricing now that you know the problem.
