My Samsung M510 gives me an error 97 when texting. The text I am trying to send disappears and I have to reenter the message. I have had the phone replaced, techs have looked at everything but no solution at this point. Does not matter what number I am texting either.
The customer care # is 866-581-9266, or *2 from any sprint phone. Error #97 means that messaging is blocked on the account.
This is a tech at one of the sprint store. you need to call cust care and have them checking the settings on your account. something wrong on your account. just let care know that you are getting the 97

I believe that the message is because, if you are on a pre-paid account, the account may be in the negatives, so you therefore get the error message and you cannot send texts. In order to fix it, you may have to purchase a new phone card, just to get you out of the negatives. Even if the amount came off for your texting for the month, it will not work if you have a negative balance.
What is the customer care number? I can't find it ANYWHERE :(

My phone has been giving me the same error, but only on one phone number I try to text to. The others seem to work fine. I am using the 10 digit phone number also tried it with a 1 at the beginning. Nothing seems to work. Any help would be appreciated.
