I havent used the tascam 2488 in a while but it was stored in a warm dry place . now it wont boot up . what do i do and will the memory be lost.
Before actually addressing the issue I need to know if you are sure that the unit is getting power. You may just have a power cord issue.

yes i have the same problem turned it on today and it says check h/w and i have no idea what h/w is have you manage to find the problem?
I had exactly the same problem too. I haven't used it for about 5-6 months, turned it on, it was clearly getting power but nothing happened. So I tried it a few times and still no joy... so in the end I turned it on and just left it for about 30 minutes. Eventually, it did come back on and all the old songs were still on the hard drive.
