Cant locate the printhead on xerox C2424

I have a xerox workcenter c2424. just got the error code 07,010,43:35744. How can I get to the printhead?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Researched this and I cant seem to find the direct info your looking for. I know that the error code generally refers to a stalled printer head, there may also be ink spilt inside. This is not a solution by any means but this link will give you the information to contact the Xerox specialists that deal with error codes ect. They will be able to tell you where to find the printer head and how to clear up the issue.

Remove the covers. But before you go to eh print head itself, there is a print head pivot block that often gets contaminated with ink. The code you are having, is related to the print head not being able to move freely side to side, or tilt properly.
To access that block. You have ot remove the document feeder and scanner. To do that you disconnect the cable, it runs from the back to the scanner to the opening where the power cord plugs in, remove the 2 thumb screws and unplug it. You slide the doc feeder and scanner back, then depress the two tabs and completely remove it.
There is one screw in the back that holds on both the left and right side covers. You have to lift and kind of twist the covers in about the middle of the machine, The front cover will also pop off, it has tabs that holds the front covers together. Then remove them.
Look on the left side of the machine, looking from the front. You will see a stainless steel block, about one inch square, located about 2/3rd of the way back on the lower 1/4th of the frame. It has a spring and a clip over it. Just pull out on the spring bracket and locate it up and to the left, It is meant to be put there for servicing.
Look at the block. it may be filled up with yellow ink. If so , remove it with channel locking pliers. It may be VERY tight, so work it out slowly. Then soak it in hot water, that softens the ink , and clean it and the shaft thouroghly and remove as much excess ink from teh surrounding area as possible. Also, IF that is the problem. Probably a 75 percent chance, then when you return the printer to service. Get a small level, and make sure the printer is level BOTH side to side and front to back. To do that , you place the lecel on the platen glass, sideways then front to back. Often times those printers are not level and that causes the problem. The other things that happens is simple spill over from the ink catch tray, It is imperative you have those printers sitting level.
If thats not the problem. let me know We will go from here.

Are you still following this? I have located the print head swivel block and lifted the spring clip. The block seems to be blocked by 2 black plastic numbs from above?

Drum disconnect. The drum heater is not drawing the expected

AC power supplied by power sources such as uninterruptible power supplies (UPS's) or DC-to-AC inverter systems, may not supply enough current to properly power up the printer. In these cases, the printer may report printhead jet-stack or reservoir
heater disconnect, drum heater, or preheater errors (37,002.47 thru 37,012.48).If you do not hav a UPS connected then probably it is the drum heater problem

Xerox c2424 37,002,47:280890

The 37,002 error code is for a defective heater in the printhead 650-4354-00. There is no reset or workaround for this error.
Unfortunately, the part is fairly expensive, but the C2424 is such a workhorse, you may want to repair it.

C2424: error code 19,993.48:88868

This error is a Printhead error, but in this case is usually more probable to be caused by the Electronics Module.
The Printhead part number is 650-4354-00
The Electronics Module is 119-6427-03
I suspect the actual error code was 19,003.48
