Question about Canon PowerShot S45 Digital Camera

Canon PowerShot S45 Digital Camera

My Canon PowerShot S45 Digital Camera has worked flawlessly until, when recently operating it at the very end of the battery charge (with the low battery icon flashing), it started trying to power down.  Then, as I tried to close the front slide over the lens, it lost power completely and froze with the lens retracted but the cover stuck open.  My fully charged backup battery had no effect, and I have now tried another fully charged battery with no effect.  It is powerless and dead.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

This sounds very similar to my situation... no power or life in any mode with any battery that has been recharged. I wish I had a solution to offer. We both may be without a S45 going forward...

Maybe this fuse is blown:

Short it or replace it.

My canon powershot s45 does not have a driver for windows 7

Consider NOT using a driver.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

MY CAMERA WAS OK BUT NOW IS NOT COMING ON

Is neither the taking pictures or viewing pictures mode working?

If it's only taking pictures that's a problem, make sure you slide the cover all the way across until it clicks. I have the same camera and have noticed it won't come on if you don't push it all the way.

Not without performing major surgery on the camera. As delivered, the camera does not contain any charging circuitry.

Cannot find a driver for Canon PowerShot S45 for Windows Vista

When connecting a digital camera to your computer with the usb connector, then turning it on the memory card in the camera becomes a removable drive under My Computer and will also bring up a dialogue window that will ask if you want to import pictures, etc. There is no need for a driver. Replace battery sign in New canon A590si camera.

You're using the wrong batteries. You need to purchase lithium batteries. They are quality batteries for high powered, battery operated electronics. Personally, I have a battery charger and use rechargable duracell batteries. (HR6/ DC1500/ NiMH/ 1,2V) Gives you approximately 16 hrs before having to recharge.

Here are some simple things to try first for a camera that won't power on. They won't work for every case, but they're worth a try:

My Sony Cybershot DSC-S45

the button is offset inside the camera, there is a little piece of plastic that seems to loose its elasticity and will not depress the actual on/off switch inside.
