TV has audio, but displays only random colors and color bars. Menu doesn't function

Was repaired once before under warranty for this exact problem. In that case, the PC board was replaced.

Update: LCD Panel is bad. After being off for a good while. The TV functions momentarily after power up, but once the panel heats up, it starts pulling voltage from the main board. Not worth repairing.

That is what is called BURN IN or as the manufactures call it "IMAGE RETENTION". Basicly what this means it that you have been putting more hours on the part that is darker the smaller part, or the 4x3 picture or the square part. And, basicly the part that appears to be lighter is "LESS" worn out than the other part of the plasma tv. There is no fix for the problem, But if you go into the menu and select "BURN-IN" OR "Pattern sweep" or WHITE Screen than you will see exactly what i mean. Now, you can keep it on this pattern overnight if you would like, but i suspect it will not cure the problem, but lessen the effects of it. But keep in mind, you are reducing the life of the complete panel when you do this. Not that it is bad to do this. If you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask anymore questions. The better fix is to Switch over to the "Dish Network and than you can format the screen on any channel in any mode. Superior product to cable. Have a great day. And watch out for the snow storm coming. GURU JAY

SOURCE: Rainbow color effect appears when Samsung LCD plays Wii or DVD

Hello, I have a question which video inputs are you using for your DVD and Wii connections? The reason I ask is because this sounds like video distortion cuased by noise. If possible can you send a picture of the screen when it has this problem and send which video ports are being used? If it is noise in the video you may have a saw filter problem, or a decoupling issue. In any event I'll know more once you send those pictures and which inputs you are using for your DVD and Wii. Large yellow spots floating across TV screen

Adjusting the Color Temperature

Color temperature refers to how red (warm) or blue (cool) the color palette is. This control helps you to adjust the color settings on your TV. You can change the color settings by following these steps:

- Using the TV remote, select settings and look for a menu item labelled video or picture.
- Select Color Temperature. A slider should appear that allows you to slide between cool and warm colors. The colors might also be labelled red or blue.
- Slide the settings away from red/warm and towards blue/cool using the remote control. You can leave the slider at the point where the color is most pleasing to you.

It seems that you have an issue with the power board. You could also have faulty convergence modules causing the blending of colors.

I wouldn't advise you to open the set yourself, because of the complicated circuitry and high voltage. It is safest and best to get TV repairman to look at this issue and provide a fix/repair.

We had a similiar issue with our SAMSUNG Plasma TV. It had a 2'or 3" vertical bar of random colors on the right side of the screen. It would also go away but then come back. Fortunately for us the TV was still under its original 1yr manufacturers warranty. We called the customer support and they scheduled a service call. The TV repair man took our TV to the shop and replaced the defective components. It took about 3 weeks for the repair.
