Disassemble Brother MFC 240C

I want to know how to remove and replace the waste ink absorber from my Brother MFC 240C printer. I need to know how to disassemble the printer in order to find the waste ink absorber. I have already reset the printer so it will print, but I don't want to chance having ink overflow all over my desk, and I want to replace the waste ink absorber.

I know this issue may have been resolved by you already, since I am now looking at this issue for you, however I am setting up the answer to help others that may have a similar problem in the future. You will need to reference a Brother servicing manual as it will show you how to remove the printer assembly and includes part numbers that you may need to replace. Hope this is helpful! You can find the manual at: ftp://ftp.brother.co.il/fax/MFC845.pdf

SOURCE: Problem with my printer Brother MFC-240C "Print unable 4F"

Access the internal maintenance mode by pressing the Menu/Set button, then press * 2 8 6 4 within 2 seconds. This should put you in the maintenance mode menu. Enter 80, then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key. You'll find an entry listed as purge count. If number is over 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.

This will reset the purge count value. Then the printer will restart,
try this step by step.without missing any thing. thanks

46 keeps displaying we tried a trouble shooting idea,, pressing 80 ... but we cant press anything

Replace the ink absorber box (or possibly break the ink absorber box open and clean its absorbent sponges under a tap), re-assemble the printer and reset the purge counter to zero.

Troubleshot 46 on mfc-240c

Error code 46 means that your ink absorber pad needs to be replaced. According to Brother, only an engineer can do that, but you can get more information from them by contacting Brother support:

http://www.brother-usa.com/Support/

Click on "Send us an Email" and tell them your printer's model number, the error code, and whether or not your machine is covered by a warranty.

Ink absorber pad is full

You need to replace the waste ink absorber and then reset the counter. These can be obtained from some suppliers of ink and spares etc, otherwise you will need to contact Brother in your country or take the unit to a service engineer.

Generally when these errors occur the waste ink absorber needs replacing, if not your images will start to degrade in quality and you will start to see ink splays / splodges appearing as well as random spots and ink patches. In the mean time press RESUME /CANCEL to continue printing.

Error message: unable to clean 46

This can be resolved by a special form of reset in the engineers functions of the machine, however, it also requires the ink absorber box to be replaced. This part catches the waste ink. If this it not done you run the risk of waste ink leaking out of the machine. For that reason I cannot just post the reset information.
It is really a job for an engineer, I'm afraid.
