Question about Hitachi 53UDX10B 53" Rear Projection Television

Poor color My tv set is a 53UDX10B projection color TV.I bought it in 2002. The problem I am haveing is the color on all channels have a very distinct green color to all of them!! I have tried the MAGIC FOCUS and this does nothing!! I have tried all the other color functions on the remote , is there anything else I can try before I have to take it to the doctor???

Thank you very much!! I kind of thought I would have to take it in.I don't think I want to do it myself!!! Again thanks for your time . I will keep you posted if that is allright?

I had the same problem with the same model earlier this year. You need to have the convergence module replaced on a circuit board inside. Expect to pay $400-$500 to a qualified repair shop.

Configuration Problems

Improperly configuring TV setting can cause problems. Verify the TV settings are set correctly. Do I need a converter box for a Hitachi 53uwx10ba TV?

Check to see what input the set is on--set in menu to catv or cable and connect with set on three if using a box---if not then auto program for channels.

If set on catv you should with the remote be able to direct enter a channel to see if tuner in set works or hook a dvd etc to a rear input to set to see if it works that way.

Model# 53UDX10B bought in 2002. The green color has went off. Its a red tint picture now. Whats the repair and the approximate cost.

The tv have a problems known as a convergence problems,it dead.The tv have colors R,G,B lines mis alignment,have colors shadows or 3D pictures.The tv convergence board,the 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors are dead.These parts,must be replaced to solved the tv convergence picture problems.The shop,will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.

I'm no expert, but I think that you have a problem with the convergence of the 3 color guns. I've been working on a similar problem. As a first step, have you tried "Magic Focus?" The Magic Focus button for the Hitachi 53UDX10B is at the left of the small front panel controls that also include your RCA composite and SVideo connectors. Let the set warm up for about 20 minutes (as recommended by the user guide), and then press the Magic Focus button. When you press the Magic focus button, the set will auto align the 3 color guns. If this doesn't fix your problem, unplug the TV for at least 4 hours and try again.

Black box covers most of screen some channels, plus gibberish.

it is the closed captions on the tv. it is set to closed caption text. turn it off

Blue color is now green and oranges are pink

Most likely a CRT coolant leak onto signal pcb.Look for wet
evidence........T.
