This sounds like a thermal intermittent, either a component or a connector or most likely a solder joint.

when it heats up it expands losing its connection if its a solder joint. if its a component its a lot more complex.

i dont know your electronic/mechanical experience, a projection tv is very complex inside, several circuit boards, dozens of wiring connectors a whole lot of very high voltage, enough to be fatal and if not at least very painfull.

if you are experienced and able check all the solder connections on every circuit board under a magnifier, repair any bad ones.

after that the trouble shooting gets very complex as it must be done with the boards opened up and exposed while the set is running, you will require a set of schematics, component freeze spray, a spot heating gun, a high impedance meter, an oscilloscope, temperature controlled soldering equipment and possibly a signal injector of some sort.

if its worse than a bad solder joint it is probably best left to a service shop.

best of luck.

Problem With KENMARK flat Screen TV - BLACKS OUT

you do not give the model number for a better diagnosis
the most common cause of this problem is the invertor or at worse the screen its self.
If it is a lvd 163 you can purchase a new invertor from sales@tvs-services or call 01245392539

TV screen goes blank but power stays on

Sounds like the CRTs are going into protective blanking due to the vertical output ic needing to be resolderd. Try resoldering the vertical IC that may possibly fix the issue.

P42W46X Zenith Plasma - No Picture - Mostly Yellow on screen

Mine looks like too, but the line running across isn't on my set, picture looks like this, and the sound works fine. I took the tuner board all the way out and turned the set on and it did the same thing, then I unplugged the top wire on the board next to the tuner board and the screen went black. plugged it back in and the screen came back with the scrambled picture. Anyone know why? Bad mainboard maybe? the left of the tuner board?

LG LCD Tv picture goes black but the sound still works

Next time it goes dark do a flash light test to see if your inverter board is fubar.
