Sharp UX110 Fax Machine (about 10 years old!)

When we try to fax someting it sends a msg that it is sending but no paper feeds through the machine and then we get a "Line Error" msg.  Is this the phone line or the machine?

I'd like to purchase a new machine but want to make sure it's not the phone line......Thx!

Its the adf unit not sensing the original. Most systems use either a photointerrupter or a switch. Which when they go out it not feed.      But you may also have a bad original feed motor. You can always test the line by hitting the hook/monitor button,or plug a phone in the wall and listen for the tone.

Our fax machine is sending faxes fine, but will not print in coming faxes. It keeps asking for paper (which is in the fax machine), then it sounds like it's working, then stops. We turned it off to see...

The paper isn't properly loaded. remove the paper then there should be a lever near the paper loading section that you push or pull to let the paper enter the feeding area. put in paper and return the lever to the proper position. check your owners manual. to get a manual try www.sharpusa.com .

FAX MACHINE WILL ONLY RECEIVE MESSAGES THAN SEND THEM

You can't make it just receive.

Unplug the power cord for 10 seconds.

Copying and fax sending problem

  1. Just check & clean the dust in the original feeding area.
  2. if not solved, clean the Document feed sensor or replace the same. But for this you need to open the body of the fax machine.

Material I'm trying to send doesn't 'feed'

does it try to grab the paper?
do you hear anything happening before the beep?

The machine recognises that there is paper, then you should hear the communication, once it has the correct signal telling it the line is available for transmission it will feed the paper.

look at the tires and see if they turn to feed the paper, is there something in the way, do the tires turn,???

if yes clean with alcohol and try again, if the tires are too smooth then they need to be changed.
