My dishwasher was fine and then it won't progress to the wash cycle. It will cycle through and open the soap dispenser though. Water and steam seem to be working as well as the clear/drain button. I have tried to change to normal wash from pots and pans and nothing seems to work. Any idea what it could be?

Mderford, on a normal fill, the water should be just above the filter screen. 1.8 gallons first fill, 1.7 on all other fills. Don't think it would be a siphoning problem as you are not having this on the pots/pans. Check the float, make sure it is not sticking. You can check the inlet valve filter screen to see if it is not plugged. Run it through the diagnostics cycle by pushing high temp-air dry-high temp-air dry. Some models it's heated dry-normal-heated dry-normal. It will run through a self test for about 20 minutes. See if any error codes come up. Fill time should be approx. 1:30 to 1:40 seconds. If any of the aformentioned doesn't turn up any results, then it's possibly a faulty fill valve drive circuit on the control itself...Catriver..post back.

QuietGuard3: Clean light flashing 7 times? Press Heated Dry, press Normal Wash, then press Heated Dry again and press Normal Wash again (that's 4 button-presses) and that should fix it.

my repairman contacted whirlpool about my washing machine staying on
wash.. to his surprise.. and mine.. and his co=workers.. this is the answer,
it worked.. and we have never heard this before.
In your original istallation booklet it tells you to let the dishwasher run til its complete
the first time you use it as it may rinse twice... my original installation man told me this also.
however.. if you suffer a "blip" in your electricity.. it could put the little dishwasher "brain"
out of whack.. it can run as long as 3 to 4 hours on wash to reset itself.. if you stop it
(like others have mentioned.. and which I did also).. it doesn't complete the reset and it
will attempt to do it the next time..
answer?.. just let it go once as unnerving as this is.. it works.. They did mention that
if it went to 5 hours.. call your repairman because you need a new mechanism.

SOURCE: no hot water
A dishwasher only has one supply line: hot water.
The problem with this washer is most likely either the thermostat which controls the heating element or the heating element (or connections to it).
SOURCE: No power to dishwasher; checked breakers they seem
you need to check the power only:
1- check the power come to the wall right ,if not
get elecricity man to bring it to plug in the wall
