I bought my daughter a rca 7 in tablet for christmas. It was working fine for about 2 weeks, but for the last week or so, it will only charge if its in a certain position, and that takes a little playing with the cord to get it to start charging. now, the battery is completely dead and we cant get it to charge at all! Please help!
We are having the same problem with all 3 of our RCA tablets. Like you said, we have to find the right position for the charger and hold it that way. If you can hold it for a couple of minuets, the battery icon will flash and you will be able to tell if it's charging. Very frustrating I know. We will never buy RCA again. They are honestly junk.
You probably just need a new cord for the charger. Some charger cords sent with devices are cheaply made, with bad connectors. Since the tablet is new, I would suggest contacting the store where you bought it, or contacting the manufacturer, and they'll probably send you a new cord. Or just buy a new one. They're inexpensive. But be sure to bring your tablet to the store to make sure it will work with the new cord. Some cords will look identical to the one that came with the tablet, but won't work. I had the same problem with a Nexus tablet cord.
How do i connect it directly to the battery?
I just opened mine up and the charging port was completely shattered and the contact wire was completely broke off of the circuit board.. trying to use the usb data port right now, don't see why they wouldn't set it up to charge through usb... i guess you get what you pay for

Are you sure it is not the charger itself at fault here?
If you have or know someone with a multimeter get them to check if any voltage is present on the charger plug of the cord. Batteries do not suddenly stop they usually give less and less time in uptime mode before they finally stop altogether. I would suspect the charger or charging circuit.yes it can be fixed

Try connecting the Adaptor directly to the battery and charge it for 4-5 hrs and that should work...

Lithium ion batteries can be over charged. You have to try to discharge it then recharge it to retain the long life of the battery. Otherwise you have to replace the battery.

After variety of different tests and findings I have resolved this issue. It appears that the DVD burner was not in good working order and the DVD player was not at fault. Thanks you to all who answered and responded to my problem. Many thanks.
