SOURCE: DVD MALFUNCTION [MODEL PIONEER XV-DV131 (DVD/CD HOME THEATER]

I have the same problem with my XV-DV333. Search on inet and this came up: "... Pick Out One Of These! But I am unable to select any region using the remote control or the buttons on the player. What do I do? You need to get a Pioneer Service Remote. When you have it you should press: [ESC] [A.MON] [Numbers], where [Numbers] correspond to the region number you want to set. Be aware that you can only set this once, if you set the wrong region number for your area, there is no turning back. " WTF! Am I supposed to get a service remote to get this thing working again. I haven't done anything and it worked before:/

SOURCE: no sound from speakers after connecting to pioneer a/v vsx81

I had the same problem and resolved it last night. You'll also need to connect an audio cable (EVENTHOUGH YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO - to bad pioneer didn't fully implement the HDMI standard in this receiver) solution. I suggest using an Optical cable. This really annoyed me...see the manual on P.17 section #3.

Remote control will not operate pioneer XV-dv990 changed batteries, now stuck on DVD player.

Check the remote control for its infra-red emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check by pressing all the buttons on it; and see whether all of it generates infrared signal while pressing. If it is found OK, check and replace the infrared sensor inside the TV. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It has details about how to check a remote control; by one among the post. Surf the site with patience. Error message when reading DVD

Try changing the region setting to region free.

1. Make sure there is no Disc in the tray.

2. Shut off the unit and unplug it from the AC outlet.

3. Press and Hold the "Play" and "Open/Close" keys,
simultaneously on the player and not the remote control.

4. While holding these keys, plug the AC cord back into the outlet. (TEST and CPU ver# will appear on the display)

5. Release the "Play" and "Open/Close" keys.

6. Press DVD Menu twice on the remote.

7. When the display reads s000 5858 use the up and down buttons to change the 000 to 02E.

8. Using the Left and Right arrow buttons, change the last four digits until they read 0000 for Region Free, 0101 for Region 1, 0202 for Region 2 or 0404 for Region 4.

9. Press Enter on the player.

10. Press Standby and wait 5 seconds.

11. Press Standby again. Your player is now set to the region you requested. If you find some titles do not play on the region 0 setting, you may have to hard select the appropriate region.

Good Luck. Let me know if it works
