Can't get the screw adjustment to change the height of the bowl
My stand mixer is not the tilt model, rather there is a handle on the side that raises or lowers the bowl. The problem is that the paddle beater is banging on the side of the bowl. I have adjusted the screw on the mixed behind the bowl to no avail. It doesn't seem to matter which way I turn it - and it doesn't turn very far either way- the beater still hits the bowl hard enough to peal of small shards of metal. Needless to say, this makes the mixer useless. Any suggestions? Are there other points of adjustment?
I have the same problem with my Pro HD Stand Mixer. The adjustment screw lowers the bowl a tiny amount, but not enough to prevent the beater from touching bottom causing whatever is in the bowl to have black stuff in it.

Re: Can't get the screw adjustment to change the height...
I had a similar problem with mine - the problem turned out to be that I hadn't clicked the bowl into place corectly. If you find the bowl is tilting forward slightly then you probably need to push it into the clip at the back.
Thanks, I have done that before. the handle that I move up and down to raise and lower the bowl is locked in one position. Thanks, I have done that before. the handle that I move up and down to raise and lower the bowl is locked in one position.

I'm not familiar with your model but on stand mixers with crank handle bowl lift there are 2 places for it to be. With bowl lift down there can be s screw straight in from the front on the pedestal just above the bowl lift sliding bracket, the full range of adjustment is half a turn, anti clockwise to raise, clockwise to lower. The other one is a small screw sticking down from under the gear case where the bracket that carries trhe bowl slides up and down. Clockwise to lower, anti clockwise to raise.
Tilt the mixer up, look at the joint where it connects to the stand under the "belly" of the mixer. You should see a small silver screw. Dialing it out will raise the head of the mixer, dialing it in will lower it.
If it is a tilt head mixer then adjust the screw which can be seen by tipping the head back and looking into the pivot point. Turn the screw CCW to raise the head and prevent the paddle from hitting the bottom of the bowl.
If it is a lift bowl mixer there is an adjusting screw on the frame of the stand behind the bowl holder mechanism. It rurns a cam which adjusts the height of the mixer. See pg. 13 of the owners manual for bowl height adjustment procedure:
Although I can't find your mixer by the model number you gave me, I assume that your mixer is the kind which the bowl moves up and down not the "tilt-head" style.

Hi LEDAVETTORI,
you don’t provide the model number or say if you have a ‘tilt-head’ or a
‘bowl-lift' mixer, which would helpful, but you can easily download a PDF
version of your Owners Manual from the KA website at: (http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home).
Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals& Guides> and enter the 6
character model number and select a file listed under Owners Manuals and
save that file to your PC. You’ll need to have Adobe Reader to be able to open it. Turn to Page 11 and you will
find the instructions for adjusting the mixer head height. I have extracted the
instructions below: Beater to Bowl Clearance
Your mixer is adjusted at the factory so that the flat beater just clears the
bottom of the bowl. If for any reason, the flat beater hits the bottom of the
bowl or is too far away from the bowl, clearance. Tilt-Head models
• Unplug mixer.
• Lift motor head.
• Turn screw (A) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to raise flat beater or
clockwise (right) to lower flat beater.
• Make adjustment with flat beater, so it just clears surface of bowl.
If you over adjust the screw, the bowl lock lever may not lock into place.
Bowl-Lift models
• Unplug mixer.
• Place bowl lift handle in down position.
• Turn screw (B) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to
raise flat beater and clockwise (right) to lower flat beater.
•Make adjustments with flat beater, so it just clears surface of bowl.
If you find the adjustment screw missing, you’ll need to replace it. But now

Hi, KLOEHR, your beater will not lengthen by losing a screw. However, if you lost your Beater to Bowl Clearance adjustment screw, then it might appear that your beater had ‘grown’ because now the beater may be touching the bottom of your mixing bowl, where previously it had not.Simply said, the beater didn’t grow the mixer head drooped. The height of the beater is easy to adjust on the tilt-head model. Tilt the head back, and look into the pivot from the front of the mixer. You should see a screw on the hinge. With a flat blade screwdriver, rotate this screw half a turn counter-clockwise to raise the beater height. Lower the head and check that the beater does not touch the bowl. Repeat until the adjustment is satisfactory. To lower the beater closer to the bowl, turn the screw clockwise instead.
