Hi,

By service port they mean a device hookup that a tech can use to diagnose problems with your TV. There is no practical use for you to plug into it. If you want to display your laptop on the TV you need yo hookup the video out from your laptop to the TV's PC/RGB input.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris

The hdd is not recognized by the pc, evrytime i plug in the hdd it ask me to formated

Are you using EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE, which means the hard drive is in a box, and you connect it to computer with USB cable? If so, do the following
1. Try to plug and unplug and plug USB cable at the port on computer. 2. While plugged in, try to shake the plug a little. 3. Try to plug the USB cable to USB port at the back of the PC case, not the port at the front 4. Check the usb cable, buy a new one, or borrow one (its cheap) 5. Still does work? bring it to Customer service, there must be an error on the box itself.

My notebook currently not recognized my 500GB Buffalo external hard drive. I dont want to reformat it because few important files are still in it (i didnt back up anywhere else) and i need them badly at...

An external storage-device has four major components:

* the USB cable

* the power-adapter

* the disk-drive inside the enclosure

* the USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the enclosure.

One of these components has failed.

Try a different USB cable.

Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer.

Try connecting to a USB port on a different computer.

Take a "multi-meter" and measure both the voltage and amperage output from the AC adapter, and compare with the specifications on the label on the adapter.

Open the enclosure, and remove the disk-drive, and then connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if it works at all.

Purchase a new, compatible, disk-drive, and install it in the enclosure, to "revive" your external storage device.

Get the part-number and serial-number from the label on your disk-drive, and access the manufacturer's web-site, and use "check warranty status", to see if they will replace the device, at minimal cost to you.

There exist commercial "data recovery" services that can try to repair your device, just long-enough to rescue and copy your files. For example, see: https://services.seagate.com/index.aspx?lng=en-US for a "no data - no charge" guarantee.

My new portable hdd is not getting detected on my xp

Your USB ports may be version 1.1

You need a USB "Y" cable.
The USB Y cable uses two USB ports on your laptop and the third plugs into the external HDD.

Check RadioShack or maybe the vendor has a USB Y cable.

This will work!
