Rca d52w26 MY tv is 2 years old, been used alot, (wife leaves it on for the dog all day), the other day, it went crazy. looks like i have either 2 or three images of different color kinda like shadows of them selfs but completey different color like 1 red one blue. also when i access the menu controls all the words are out of alignment as well as curved. auto converge as well as manual converge will not fix the problems. i powered down down unpluged for days to see if that would help.. but no change at all... any sugestions? thanks

With RCA units you have a real problem. Most rear projection sets other than RCA use two IC(s) that look like large transistors mounted on aluminum heatsinks , with around 20 pins, #'s stk 392-150 0r stk394- 250 0r stk 392 -140. A simple desoldering of the connections and replace the bad chips then if you are lucky you may not have to redo the service mode alignment of the three colors. But RCA units have basically several transisters on the convergence board instead of the simple 2 chip setup. You will need a meter to test Each seperate transistor after you desolder them from the board so to get an acurate measurement. The meter needs to have diode testing ability. This will take you awile to test them all, there is about 12 or more of this on the baord all with heatsinks. Each row of these controls green horizontal ,green vertical, red horizontal, red vertical and so on. With the board out carefully go over every solder joint with a magnifying glass and lots of light ( no joke), you are looking for small cracks in the old solder. This is not considered an easy fix even for the techs. Sorry but you are basically looking for a needle in a haystack. Even if you attempt this there is a possibility that it is a resistor or diode, or something somewere else at fault. Even if you find a fuse gone you should ask yourself - what made the fuse go. Get the picture. These sets are the hardest to repair , I have spent days looking for faults and RCA has the worst support than any other sets. sorry but that is just the way it is with the RCA

You have to have your tubes re-alined, they sometimes do that if the tv has been bumped or jared.

Do not adjust CRT alignment.Only done when yoke/CRT are

replaced. The problem you described is convergence circuit

and/or power supply repair. At the least, solder pins of convergence IC(s),check power supply for open fuses and research like problems with same model. At times, moving the

set causes a bad connect, which can cause IC failure. If you need

more help,let me know.--T.

Have you ever had this problem?

Sorry Ginko, but a convergence problem would have the curves down from the top and up from the bottom. The hourglass shape is a pincushion problem. This can be as simple as a bad capacitor in the pincushion circuit.

Could you please confirm the model number so I can look up the probable part?

Sorry, here is the original post.

When you press power does the led light at all? That chassis has been plagued with bad flyback causing dead sets sometimes the led will flash 3 times slowly then go out. Other times it will make a soft short hiss. Does your set exhibit any of these signs?

Have you ever had this problem?

Generally, pincushion may be driven by a chip or IC,but pin out is normally a durable xistor. Servicer adjustments are minor for pin correction.Go to pin out circuit & measure voltages.Get back to me on your findings.
