You have to use a drive overlay due to the bios limitations of the computers motherboard.
go the manafactures website "harddrive sight"
or use google to find 1 that works for you . lol at eagle338 "n00b"!

This is probably becuase you are trying to use two masters in the same cable...Set the HDD to CS(cable select mode)..and it will detect automatically

Running under the assumption that the CD is actually working, have you checked the BIOS settings to indicate that you want the CD to be the first boot device?

Alternatively, some if not most systems will accept an F12 during boot up to query the user where to boot from.

PC not recognising Iomega Prestige 320gb usb portable hard drive. I've connected it all up, disconnected, reconnected, rebooted the computer, but the drive is just not recognised and does not show up in...

Does the drive show in Device Manager? Right click on 'My Computer' and select properties, the open device manager.. Navigate down to Disk Drives or Hard Drives, click on the plus sign and see if your drive is listed. If it is, then right click on the drive name and open properties for the drive. Click on the 'Volumes' tab and hit the 'Populate Button'. It may be the disk just needs initialising, then reformatting before you can use it. If it does need initializing, a wizard should appear to guide you through the process!
If this doesn't solve your problem, try using a different USB cable and/or USB ports on your computer, and ensure to unplug all other USB devices other than keyboard & mouse.

I have a PC Dell Dimension 2400 with a hard 40 GB

Basically when you install a new boot drive you need to install Windows operating system on the new hard drive, also the device drivers (eg video, audio, modem, LAN etc), your programs and data. The reason programs has to be installed is because the installation process copied DLL files to the System folders and makes changes to the registry.
You can only copy your data onto the new hard disk.
To avoid copying your data to the new hard drive, you can set up the old hard drive as second hard drive (ie. slave drive), if you delete the redundant folders and leave only the data folders then you have an adddition 40Gb of disk space.

How much hard disk GB support in p4bp-mx

Hi araamudhan12,
Its your choice. The motherboard will function with either size hard disk drives. The 160BG drive will store more information than you might think. So the question you'll need to ask your self is, do you really think you'll come close to filling up a 500GB hard disk drive. Most users install two drives. One as the primary & the second as an extra storage drive & to back up the primary drives data in case the primary has a problem. When looking for a hard disk drive, go with the drive or drives with the longest warranty.
When installing a new drive & the new drive will be your primary drive. Disconnect the 40GB drive. Allow windows to format the drive & install windows from scratch. Once windows is installed & completely updated you can re-connect the 40GB drive & copy all your personal data back to the new hard disk drive. When your sure all the data from the 40GB drive has been copied over. Install another 160GB drive as your back up drive / storage drive. Keep the 40GB drive just in case you missed data that you though you did not need. The Asus P4BP-MX motherboard can run, two Ultra DMA 100MHz hard disk drives.

Have more question, post here.
Good luck!
Mike

Quantium 10.2 gb fireball CX10A011 specs. ie sectors, mode, etc.

The specifications to enter the information manually, are on top of the harddrive. Kind of hard to discern, huh? That's because harddrive sizes from 6.4GB through 20.4GB are listed on top.
C/H/S = Cylinders/Heads/Sectors
The Quantum Fireball CX10A011 hardrive is a 10.2GB harddrive.
You will see -> C/H/S....10.2 - 16383/16/63 on top.

That is ,
16,383 Cylinders
16 Heads
63 Sectors

As for the 40GB model, it should be similar. If not, come back and post.

Seagate momentus 3 60gb problem

What software did you use for the cloning?
Ghost is the preferred method.
Be sure to choose a disk to disk clone, not a partition clone.
It sounds like you may have created a 20G partition and left 40G unallocated.
Partition Magic may also take care of the problem, if you have access to a copy.
