My camera will not stay on. When I turn on the power, a green light comes on then goes out a few seconds later. The lens was stuck in the out position. After turning it on and letting it go off several times, the lens stays out.It flashes on and flickers 3 times before powering off.Batery is fully charged
I actually have the same problem. Camera started up then just went blank. It beeps 3 times when you attempt to power it up.
based on the previous reply about gears being off. I gave the camera an 'encouraging' tab with my hand. and it started working correctly again... I actually have the same problem. Camera started up then just went blank. It beeps 3 times when you attempt to power it up.

Using brand new batteries, my camera automatically turns off when turned on. The lens stays out and will not retract in closed position.Using brand new batteries, my camera automatically turns off when turned on. The lens stays out and will not retract in closed position.

Is there anything that sounds like a "beeping" noise when it extends? A lot of times the focus motor gears are knocked out of place. This causes a lens error, even if the lens extends fine. The camera has the "external" zoom lens, and an internal focus lens. This can be only fixed with disassembly of the lens, if indeed this is the problem you're talking about.

Since there is nothing you can do to fix this at home you have 2 choices, replace the camera or send it back to the manufacturer for exchange (very expensive)
Just had this happen to my L100. First, take out the battery and wait a couple hours for everything to cool down and discharge. Then place the battery back in. Then plug the USB cord into the camera and PC. Then turn the camera on and it should be okay. Just worked for mine.
**** a very common problem with most cameras. There hasn't been much of a solution for this problem except to try to wiggle the lens zoom while pushing and holding the power button. Also make sure you have brand new batteries installed. Even the slightest dead battery will cause a problem.
maybe this works: turn your camera on in play mode (if you have play button press it to turn on camera) and if your camera hase a shoot-play switch select play mode and then turn your camera on.)
repeat this until lens goes back.
I hope this works...
The following blog outlines some repair options for a lens error. They won't work for all cases, but they're worth a try if the camera's no longer under warranty:
