I just received a Proscan 8 tablet....instructions that came with it are TOTALLY USELESS! I want full instructions as to how to use it, open it, etc....so that I can download it.

The person who will attempt to write the instructions for you will in all likelihood read them first in the user's manual. I suggest you try again reading the manual.

When you press and hold in the power button it should boot up. If it doesn't the battery might be dead so charge it up and try again. If it doesn't boot up after charging we need more information.
Are you getting any kind of a screen or just nothing?
I have a Proscan plt7810 & I have to hold the ON button I for a FULL 2 seconds. Check our manual. Push ON in; say 1000 one, 1000 two release button.(say it slllooowww)
Unfortunately, your tablet manufacturer maintains a "walled garden" of applications. That is, you can only install applications from a list of applications that they provide. Not all of the Android applications that are available through Google Play are available to this device.
The only way you'll be able to get around this limitation is to hack the tablet (if such a hack is available) to allow installation of either a full Android OS or other hack to allow Google Play. Doing this will void your warranty at least or could "brick" your tablet.
Not being able to update any apps simply means either you don't have access to the internet or that your apps update is programmed to function ONLY when you are connected to/through WiFi.
second, you can download standalone 'raw' apk files online and install on your tab.
Remember to go into your Settings---Security (and under Device administration, check 'Unknown sources' and activate 'allow installation of apps from unknown sources'.

Sorry, I have no solution to offer. I am in the same situation and resets aren't working. Wondering if OS is deleted and if so, how to reinstall. So frustrating!
