6A00 indicates that "an error occurred in the AP motor
during purging operation". This is a service call error and requires that the printer be brought into a canon authorized service facility for repair. The service facility would be able to fully diagnose the problem and properly repair it.

Error 6A00

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!

The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam. Some where in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 code.As a Canon technology,I usually find the code almost 90% of the time it is related to the purge unit being jammed with something and not being able to move.Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods etc.
I have found all those things in a purge unit. The offending item needs to be removed or the purge unit needs replacement.A
Canon Pixma MP610 would still be under Canon warranty, get it into a shop and save yourself the hassel.
Incidentally, the 6A00 error pertains to all Canon printers made in the last several years, its not just used in one model & its always a paper path error or purge unit
I forget myself so here goes, the purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP,lexmark & other ink jet printers,is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing. That is why you 'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it. It also has a an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow

I have a Canon MP610 printer and am getting an error message 6A00. I have tried moving the carriage but nothing seems to help. Any suggestions?

Hi,

1. Turn off the printer

2. Open cover

3. Print head and cartridges manually move to the left

4. on the extreme right is a white plastic cover is visible, which is attached to a spring

5. Clean the cover carefully (no chemicals, not wet) and gently push it back (it clicks) and remove any impurities -> the black collecting sponges for the storage of the print head can see

6. Print head and cartridges manually back to the right move

7. Turn on printer

FAULT 6A00

Hi,

6A00 is a problem with the sheet feed unit.
The print head carriage would have been stuck and try manually
moving the carriage a few times and the problem would be resolved.
Try blowing some compressed air around hoping to clear any foriegn objects.
Notice whether some piece of torn paper lodged inside.

Hope it helps.

The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.

Solution 1:
Move the printhead carriage back and forth a few times.

Solution 2:
Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.

Solution 3:

I have a Canon MP610. I am getting a error message 6A00. How do I fix the problem? Thanks.

6A00 is a AP Position error. Check this:

1.Carriage lift mechanism
2.Paper feed mechanism

In worst case the logic board assembly is defective.

Fault no 6A00 in MP610

Open the top of the printer, move the ink-cartriges to the left.
Look in the openening you get.
You wil see white plate with two transparant guides on this.
do not thouch the transparant guide plate
On the most right white arm push a little downwards with a pencil or a plastic pin.
May be you have to push on the grove a little more to the back .
You will see that the plate will move a very little and this obstruction for moving the cartriges and rollers is gone.

Good luck.
