Nintendo DS Lite shuts down after holding down B-button

I stopped playing with my NDSL for about a month.  When I started playing again, the unit shuts down when I hold down B-button (or sometimes when tapping the A-button) once the unit is turned on.  The unit has a supercard lite installed.  This shutdown affects both when playing original and back up games.  The battery was fully charged when tested and nothing else appeared to be out of the ordinary. Could there be short circuit when the B-button is held down?  Solution(s) would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

On certain backup games, and even some real cartridge games my ds lite shutsdown without cause. Usually when I hold the b-button down. Any suggestions?

it happens when i use the button section fairly ofter, i.e. when im playing geomatrey wars, (i'm left handed), or when i do the newby "mash the a button even though it doesn't do anything" in RPG's. but it has happened on both DS games and GBA games.

This happens with mine - random shutdown when playing various games, but can be forced by pressing x and a button at same time

Hi, I have a problem with my son's Nintendo DS Lite. After playing for around 10 minutes it turns off automatically usually whilst pressing the B button. There seems to be no problem with the battery as it fires up again straight away.

I believe this is a common problem
possibly a manufacturing fault (although I doubt Nintendo would admit to it).

See my other post: "DS Shutting Down"

I have two that have been well looked after and both are doing the same thing.
Both purchased around Dec '06

It's not the battery, so don't post saying that.
I've already tested with a new battery and also put my battery into a friends DS Lite where it worked perfectly.

Definately something to do with the buttons, as you can play stylus based games for ages without any problems. (eg: Mahjong)

Anyone who repairs these might know what the actual problem is. I'm guessing Nintendo just swap the main board or replace the unit. Unfortunately mine are both just out of the 12month warranty.

Suddenly when playing with the ds lite is switched off we thought it was the snow that entered it and since then it never worked.

It could be two things. first try a new battery you can get one on ebay or another site.If its not the battery their are two fuses in side. You will need a tri wing screwdriver to get the back off then you will need to solder the new fuses in place. This takes some can get every thing you need for a good price here.NDSL games console, ds games console, NDSL games console_Video games
Their are viedos on utube on hoe to replace a fuse.

I bought a ra(ndsl/nds ) for my ds lite and

Mine works fine!!
Download English 1.18 from the R4 website.
You should have 4 files on your card
you then add the .nds game files from wherever you get them from
Make sure the card is formatted first, ie there are no other files on it. try FAT. rather than FAT 32. I can't remember which but I've had no problems with either the card or the software, best thing since sliced bread, and it only cost me a tenner.

My nintedo ds will not turn on

Most probably your battery ain't working no more. Most probably u dropped ur NDSL and it damaged it. But sa its under warranty why do u take tension? throw it up nintendo, they'll replace it for free.

R4 NDSL Nintendo DS

Go to the manufacturers web site and download the latest OS files to put them in your memory card root. That would fix the problemand you should have updated files.
In the case of the games, music and other files in the card before the deletion you must get them again and put one by one in the memory. By the way if that was a complete deletion any game saved file is lost.

Reset ds games

It worked for me. The L & R bottons are the ones on the back corner on the unit. Just hold down all 4 bottons on the inside with your thumb while pressing the two on the outside back while powering on and off and on again if necessary. You'll get it.
