My Watts film/slide scanner will not talk to my windows 10 computer

There are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue of your Watts film/slide scanner not communicating with your Windows 10 computer:

Check the USB connection: Ensure that the USB cable is properly connected to both the scanner and the computer. Try connecting the scanner to a different USB port on your computer to see if it is recognized.

Install the scanner driver: Make sure that you have installed the correct driver software for your scanner. Visit the manufacturer's website and download the latest driver for your scanner model and operating system. Then, install the driver software on your computer.

Restart your computer: Sometimes, simply restarting your computer can resolve issues with USB devices not being recognized.

Check device manager: Open the device manager on your computer and look for any yellow exclamation marks or warning symbols. This could indicate an issue with the scanner driver or a conflict with other USB devices.

Update Windows: Make sure that your Windows 10 operating system is up-to-date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any available updates.

Try a different computer: If none of the above steps work, try connecting the scanner to a different computer to see if it is recognized. If it works on another computer, there may be an issue with your Windows 10 system or USB port.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you may need to contact the manufacturer's technical support for further assistance.

My computer says the scanner is not connected. I have checked all cables, everything is connected properly. I have tried using different ports and still nothing.

1. Drive unloaded, sometimes drive installed on the scanner can not find, can allow the scanner to find the driver, first drive optical disc into the optical drive for a moment, and then plug in the data cable power line, and then the scanner power supply, according to the instructions can be operated.

2. The scanner first installs the driver, then connects the usb wire. The connection will not be checked until the power switch indicator is on, or the computer will not recognize the hardware.

Scanner A3USB is not recognizing in vista. What should i do to fix this problem.

Make sure the device is not plugged into the computer during the drivers install. After all the files are installed plug the device into the computer. DO NOT PLUG DEVICES INTO "FRONT" USB PORTS ON THE COMPUTER AS THESE ARE "HUB" PORTS AND the system may not "see" the device.

download drivers by clicking here ---> web.EXE
install them then plug in the scanner when it tells you to

I dont know much about pc how do i get my scanner on my pc

THE steps will guide you through a successful scanner to pc interaction
  • 1

Unpack your new scanner and set it up. Follow package directions and setup instructions to assemble any parts that need assembly.

  • 2

Plug in your scanner and power it up.

  • 3

Insert the setup CD in your CD-ROM or DVD drive. It should autotomatically run. If it doesn't, click on "My Computer" and then on the CD or DVD drive to open the CD. Look for a Setup.exe file. Double-click on it to launch the setup disk.

  • 4

Follow the onscreen prompts to complete the end-user agreement and install the necessary drivers and software to run your new scanner.

  • 5

When prompted, connect the USB cable to the scanner, then plug the other end into the USB port on your desktop PC.

  • 6

Windows will recognize that a new device is available on your computer, and find the necessary software and drivers to install it.

  • 7

Restart your PC if prompted to do so.
    Troubleshooting

  • 1

Check all cable connections to be sure that they are secure.

  • 2

Disconnect the USB cable from the desktop and the scanner.

  • 3

Turn off your computer and let it cool down for 10 minutes.

  • 4

Turn the computer on, then turn the scanner on. Reconnect the USB cable to the scanner. Try connecting the other end of the USB cable to a different port on your computer.

  • 5

If none of these suggestions solve your problem, uninstall the scanner and start over.

The computer don't recognizes the scanner

There are a few fixes here.

First did your computer pop up saying it found new hardware when you plug the usb cable in? If no try changing the usb cable.

Second, did you install via kodak disk or let windows install it? (You will need the kodak drivers located here.)

Finally, where are you trying to scan from? Also, have you checked to see that it shows a scanner installed in device manager (right click on my computer then click on properties)?

Let me know if this works.

I purchased my Microtek ScanMaker 3800 many years ago. I still have the installation CD. Recently I purchased an HP laptop running Vista. My question: is it all right to plug in the scanner directly...

First connect your scanner to computer with usb cable.
Then insert disk in rom then install driver and software from disk.
It is not matter that first you connect scanner or install driver but if you connect scanner first your computer recognized it then you can install driver from disk.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Same problem.Scanner does not connect to my PC with Windows XP

Did you plug the scanner's USB cable into the computer, BEFORE you installed the drivers?

This can lead to a driver conflict.
When a hardware device is connected to a computer, Windows automatically sets out to match up drivers for it. If no driver is found that ->directly matches the device, Windows matches up one of it's generic drivers. Kind of a "One size fits all", type of thing.

Then THE drivers are installed. Now Windows has a conflict of drivers.
Windows: "Do I use these, or THESE?"

Suggest you unplug the USB cable from the scanner to computer, (If plugged in) Turn the scanner off, and unplug it from power.

Then go to All Programs, (Start>Hover your mouse on All Programs), and look at the list to the right for the Agfa Snapscan software.
See if an "Uninstall" option is listed. If so click on it. (If it asks if you wish to save preferences - NO!)

If not, go to Add/Remove Programs, (Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs), and find the Afga software in the list. Click on Remove.

DO NOT restart your computer, (Even if it asks)
Shut your computer down normally. (Start>Turn Off Computer>Shut Down)
    Unplug your computer from power.

Press the Power ON button in, and Hold it in for a count of at least Five seconds. (Count, 1001,..1002,..1003,..1004,..1005)
Let go of the Power On button.
    Do This ->Two more times.

What you are doing is clearing any CMOS Error Codes, (And resetting BIOS back to the factory default settings)

Plug your computer back into power. WAIT 1 minute, then turn it on.
After Windows has fully loaded, install the drivers from the CD disk you burned them to. If you didn't save the drivers to a CD disk, download the drivers again. Install them with the Installation Wizard.

After you're done, restart your computer.
After Windows has fully loaded again, plug the scanner back into power. If it sounds like it's resetting itself, wait until it's done. Now plug the USB cable into the computer from the scanner, turn the scanner on.

Downloaded Driver but the scanner still is not being recognized

The only thing i can think of is that you might have a USB problem. I've had similar problems but never been able to fix them =/. Install the original files that came with your computer, if you still have the disk.

Computer no longer recognizes my scanner

If you are using a multi port USB adapter that allows you to plug many devices into one USB port it may interfere with the scanner. Try uninstalling your Epson driver then download the newest one from the Epson website. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?oid=88368&prodoid=63070478&BV_UseBVCookie=yes&infoType=Downloads&platform=All&x=27&y=14

Install the newest driver first then plug your scanner into a single USB port on the computer instead of the multi port.
