I'm sure you can buy a new remote for that fan, but you will have to access the remote reciever in the fan itself so that you can get the switch sequence so that you can match it with the remote you purchased, it should work fine.
P.S. Dont tear the hell out of the package just in case you have to return the remote. I find the easiest way is to cut the plastic package close to the cardboard on three sides with a box cutter.

some units do not have external thermostats . its a capiliary thermmostat right on the gas valve. i suggest you gat an owners operators manual. make sure the gas control valve is in the fullly on position
Power flows to the fan as soon as the circuit is closed.
All the light (diming) and motor power, speed & reverse are all
controlled by tones from the switch to a receiver inside the fan housing... (only 2 wires + ground).
I have BOTH (the old style 3 switch) and the newer 4 button "W32" ... use the same tones BUT ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE...
In my opinion
The premier site for ALL FAN switch troubles
is the "FAN-MAN" (see below).

Hi there,
usually remote control for ceiling fans does not have an override code like the ones available for control using a universal remote. because they are specifically designed to work with certain IR or Radio frequency signals.
Usually a replacement remote is available but you may have to contact the manufacturer to check for availability.

I'm guessing you have a "prime touch" remote control system. I'm not exactly sure whats going on but the W-505 Prime Touch receiver in the fan is the brains of the system. They sell replacement W-505 parts at Fan Man Lighting.
Casablanca control systems are specific, for instance Inteli-Touch (4 button wall control with power fan light and reverse buttons) uses power line signals to a computer board inside the fan's motor housing and a remote control using RF will not work. However, you do not state what control you have, or what specific control you wish to attempt to use with the fan. Some will work some, will not.
