Question about Computers & Internet

Changing the motherboard

I am trying to take 1 motherboard out and put it into another HP 5415 notebook. I bought 1 for parts but I can't get it apart after taking all the visible screws out. It seems to be hanging up around the space bar.

How do I change a motherboard on my hp pavilion elite model m9650f?

Some HP and Dell desktop computers motherboards and cases are not the standard design and so cannot be modified by changing the motherboard for a non-HP one as it wont fit.

If you are going to change the motherboard on such a machine for a retail bought board then you may as well replace the case at the same time and re-build a new computer from the HP parts.

Changing your motherboard will in effect 'de-brand' your computer anyway as all that makes it HP or whatever in terms of hardware is the BIOS software on the motherboard.

Please rate if this helped you.

My computer died. It won't turn on. The cord works. It's an hp dvr6700. I was told it's probably the mother board by someone in a retail store. Should i buy a new motherboard and try yo figure out how to...

First off-- All your "INFO" is on the hardrive (Nothing to do with the Motherboard) which can be copied or reused if you replace the Motherboard-- NO INFO IS LOST--2nd if you dont hear any beeps or see any lights then yes its probable the MOBO--Did it Overheat? Did you leave it on a bed or something?3rd your best bet is to try Ebay for Motherboard or maybe another HP dvr6700 without a hardrive and then you can just pop yours in.. many options-- but changing a motherboard in a laptop is very tedious- many small fragile parts.

My hp dv9700 was on one night well it was on for a while and when I came to it it was shut off and not turning back on my guess was it overheated so I bought a new motherboard and replaced it but still no...

Start taking your laptop apart piece by piece and test it after each removed component:
1. Remove the hard drive and test the laptop.
2. Remove the DVD drive and test the laptop.
3. Remove the wireless card and test the laptop.
4. Unplug the display panel from the motherboard/video card and test the laptop.
etc....
Continue taking it apart until you have only three major components connected: motherboard (with video card), processor, and memory. If you still experience the same problem, most likely it's bad motherboard.
By the way, before you start, try reconnecting the memory module. If you have two modules installed, try removing them one by one and test the laptop with each one separately

HP dv6640BR AC/DC power supply though the battery connector

If I remember correctly, DV6000 series laptops have a modular power connector, meaning that if you pull the laptop apart you can just simply replace the power port as opposed to having to solder it on. Typically this part can be bought on ebay for about $20-30.

Even if there was a way to get your laptop to power through the battery port, that would be dangerous and probably just blow out your motherboard completely.

Upgrade graphics processor hp pavilion zv5034us

Honestly speaking, I recommend you to go for a New Notebook rather than changing the Motherboard since it is not possible to purchase another Motherboard for this Notebook with a better graphic card.

The actul Motherboard of your Notebook will cost you pretty more and I personally recommend you to go for a New Notebook with which you can get latest Graphic Card and hardware components.

You can find the list of parts available for this Notebook from HP Part Store from the link below :

http://h20141.www2.hp.com/hpparts/Search_Results.asp?mscssid=EJVUXR20AGCT8PMRJKPJXR6FSGX6C2W2

However, if you donot have any issues with the Notebook currently, go ahead working with it.

Hope this helps...
