P4040 code that is a non specific code that could be either EGR control circuit malfunction or security shut down mode meaning that the security system is shutting off the spark and/or fuel.

The fault E9 means the controller has a problem. Obviously it is not a complete fault as you are still getting the fault codes. Some key circuit in the controller has become faulty and this prevents dishwasher from working. Usually the controller needs to be replaced. But first try to turn the mains power off and back on after a short delay. This might reset the controller (boot up).

P1111 is not a fault code. It is a special designator Jaguar uses meaning system ready, drive cycles completed after the last fault event. P1000, on the other hand, means system not ready, or drive cycles not completed after the last recorded fault event.

Some OBD II Basics - All P0xxx codes are generic and uniform across all manufacturers and mean the same on every car. All P1xxx codes are manufacturer specific codes. You cannot use a generic code chart to analyze P1xxx codes for a Jaguar.

Next time your car displays an engine fault light, try reading the codes then. If you have a CEL illuminated and the only code read is P1000 or P1111, then you probably have a fault that generic code readers cannot see. Could be a chassis code, for example.

One last thing - Neither P1000, nor P1111 can be erased.

causes can be spark plugs, HT leads, ignition coils, injector, wiring fault, low compression/ engine mechanical fault

if the light stays on, this means the computer has detected a "hard" fault. This means that the fault is present and is detected during the computers power up self test. You need to follow the diagnostic procedures pertinent to the faults given. the light will stay on as long as the fault remains. Simply downloading the fault codes will not put the light out.

Didn't actually find any fault, I just held the three buttons in together on the front for a short period of time and it reset itself. Technogolgy??

it means you have a fault code in your anti-locking brake control module. Probably a wheel speed sensor fault code. (commom fault)
