Question about Samsung LN-S4692D 46 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

Sound, but no picture

Picture went out. Had sears come out. Diagnosed as a main board failure. We ordered the parts and installed them with no change. Sears came out again. Said they do not know what the problem might be the display which is $2k part and not available. Very frustrated. Has anyone with this same problem gotten their tv fixed and what was the problem/part. Any advice help greatly appreciate!!

The problem with your tv (if youve allready replaced the main board) is you have a backlight failure. the board that powers your backlights is called the inverter board. this board only comes with the panel itself and cannot be bought as a single item. if you have any more questions feel free to contact me....

VIZIO M801d-A3 No picture, no sound, passes flashlight test. Picture and sound went out a few times and then back on in days before total failure. What do you suggest for repair?

Main board controls the audio. Measure the different voltages produced by the power supply board to see if they all are present and within specs.

58" Samsung TV, Model UN58H5202AFXZC: Multiple successive failures of power board.

The "repair person" was what is known as a parts swapper. What was needed was to find out what was causing the power supply boards to fail. My guess is a short in one of the outputs.

No sound on t.v. but popping and crackling from speaker

Sanyo sets have a horrible track record, if the set is still under warranty return it. The problem could be in either the power supply or main board. It will have to be diagnosed properly to be sure.

Sounds like a main board issue, but please have the set diagnosed properly. Be aware, some Sanyo main boards can be hard to find and costly !!!

No picture or sound,TV made a clicking sound then went blank

hello, this usually indicates a failure, at the power supply board. to confirm this, you have to check the stability of the out put voltage. during the failure occurs. in a rare case the main board is the cause to confirm this, need to check the returen voltage from the main board to the power supply

Sounds like main board failure and or power board failure. You need to contact manufacturer and describe problem for tech support. Some of the parts in Samsung TVs have lifetime warranties. Change out of two board is about an hour job and service call is usually comped. Hope this helps. J

Picture not displaing

This can be any number of things. Your description from a technical point of view is very vague. It is sort of like calling a doctor and simply saying I can talk and walk, but something is hurting.

Some basic examples that can cause no picture:

Main power supply failure.
High voltage supply failure.
Short on one of the boards, or a scan failure causing a protection shut down of the high voltage.
Set is in protect mode due to one of the above failures.

On each of the boards involved there are hundreds of components that can cause your symptom. The set would have to be properly diagnosed by an experienced TV tech who is used to servicing the type of set you have.

Sound but no picture

Sound like the main board may have died, but this set has some firmware upgrades that can be done as well, there also may be a problem with the LCD control board. At any rate this problem is beyond the backyard tv tech, my advise is to take it to a autherized Sharp repair shop, by doing that the shop can order these part through Sharps board exchange program and save you some money on the parts
