Question about Whirlpool AKZ159IX Oven

Whirlpool - akz451/ix/01 - Fan oven blowing out cold air

I have a AKZ451/IX built-in oven, and no matter what temperature i set it too or how long i wait (45min to an hour in some cases) it never heats up and blows out cold air??? Any ideas?

Could be a blown element if not it could be a safety cut out or the stat

whirlpool service center /agent will have a correct element for your unit
the shape is probably for a more even heat distribution in the oven as it will cover the floor/ top area of the oven better

Looks like a problem with oven temperature sensor. Some of these models have a thermal fuse which may need to be checked and reset if possible or replaced.

The sensor is not cheap. see site

Built in oven front panel gets too hot


No. There should be a fan that runs and blows cool air from a gap at the top of the door and over the controls.

I have a Whirlpool AKZ451 built in oven that is not reaching temperature. The oven element appears to be working, could this problem be the oven temp sensor?


yes, or the oven control itself,make sure also to closely inspect the element itself for any "HOT-SPOTS" where its getting a high resistance area and not passing all the current needed to heat the element

Whirlpool built-in single oven AKZ451/IX/01


If this is an older oven, check to see if it has a control knob or switch labeled "manual and "hold". Make sure it's set for manual. The hold setting maintains temp at about 140 degrees.
If not the case, is this gas or electric?
