Question about Sharp LC-37D6U 37 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

Unpredictable audio output for no apparent reason

Same problem as Sept. 7, 07 description...no audio and no apparent reason for the problem.  Will work if the TV is turned off and on (and we also hear a "clicK"  after the set is turned off.  Thought maybe we reset some features inadvertantly but cannot find anything within the menu that seems to make a difference.  Very unpredictable.

That click sound when the tv turns off is normal, that is just the relay from the power supply shutting off.

When you turn the tv on, do you hear a faint “pop” noise from the speaker? If so, the problem is with the heat sink under the audio IC. Over time, the heat sink will lose its consistency and start to melt, thus shorting out the audio circuit. To fix, you’d need to clean off the melted residue on both sides of the audio IC as well as replacing the heat sink with a newly redesigned Sharp Heat Insulation Pad. It’s a pretty complicated fix, I suggest calling your local authorized sharp service center to fix this problem. The part is inexpensive, so you’re most likely looking at a labor charge (maybe around $200ish) for the repair if they are not marking up the price too much.

Alpine CDE 141 will not output to sub

Your description is not very clear but my guess is that the output from the RCA connector on the head unit (receiver) is low level and intended to be connected to an amplifier input. Apparently the 3.5 mm "jack" (plug) connects something to the RCA input of the amp and that works.

I just purchased an onkyo 5.1 S34000 home theater system. The reciever will not stay on. Turn it on, it turns off. Why is it doing this? :(

Hello
Coneect it to AC power, without connecting any inputs or outputs connectons. That is, switch the set idle. Even it show this fault, make sure that the audio output section has short circuted components with it. Actually the repair job is very complicated, and skilled one.
If the set is new, and is in warranty period, get this set repaired by it authorised service center at your town. Otherwise, you have to spend for its repair, which is unpredictable now. OK.

Lost audio output for no apparent reason. No mute button. I know there is a fuse in the back of the unit...is it possible that this is for the amp portion of the unit?

well here it sounds like we have two problems i'm not sure if you just refering outputs from the Radio or your RCA outputs for the amp.
If your radio doesn't turn on at all definaly you need to replace the Fuse from the fusebox.
but if just your amp. first check for the main fuse and all the wiring to be hook up to it.

My STR-DE835 receiver will not stay powered on

Most likely bad output transistors and a couple of resistors. mp1620 and mn2488 are the part #s for the transistors. If you take it to a repair shop you are looking at spending $100-$130

Distortion on left channel of analog output

Based upon your description, the most likely caue is the D-A converter chip inside the marantz. This is a relatively common failure. Replacing the IC should resolve the problem.

Small relay on PCB making loud noises for no reason

There should be a circuit designation on the PC board for this part. Can you please post that. I'll lok up that part in the manual and try to figure out what is happening.

Thanks,
