Sharpness I have a 52327 Rear projection Mitsubichi. Everything works great except the sharpness. The bar moves from 0 to 63, but the picture never changes. Has anyone had this problem and how do I fix it. Thanks

As for the sharpness if the picture has no adjustment and is maximum sharpness you cannot improve it.

The picture is not as sharp as before, what do i need to do or replace to bring the sharpness back

Hello,

Have your lamp replaced and it will regain sharpness once again.
If that does not help check if any lead from the panel have not melted off, then correct with a soldering iron if you see any.

Take care

Do the AKAI PTH 5498 TV's have replaceable lamps like you hear so much about for other rear projection TV's? And if so, any suggetions on where to find the lamps? I am hoping this can improve the sharpness...

No your model has three CRTs (picture Tubes) cleaning the mirror may help to restore the sharpness and brightness unless you have other issues. I would try cleaning the mirror first. Dont use windex, just a soft damp cloth with water then dry

Poor picture quality

Hello Paul. I have this same monitor, but rebranded, Access the service menu with the remote control:

With user’s RC
1. Power TV On
2. Press Menu button and call up User OSD Menu
3. Select Sound-> Balance
4. When Balance value is “0”,Enter 0->5->3 ->2 in sequence.
Note: If necessary, re-do number keys.
5. Factory OSD appears.
6. Press the standby button then AC turn off and restart the TV, which can exit factory
OSD menu.

Now you will be able to change the values for Red Green and Blue channels. I also hated this TV, but after adjusting the colors it's looking great! Hope you could fix it too! :)

Picture is dark and pictur not sharp

If the picture is dark the only thing that will cause that is a bad lamp. You will need part number 915P020010 to fix that.

Dull

this is a common situation with the rear projection build. its a combination of the burn in effect and also, bad tuning. you can get a better picture by using the DVI option. rgb stream can give you a better picture as well. adjusting the sharpness can help sometimes.
