That's because it is a high efficiency washer and uses 75% less water. The water and energy bills will thank you, trust me.

GE top loader washer water keeps running will only cut off at faucets"

If disconnecting power does not stop the water fill, replace the washer's inlet water valve. It is the part the fill hoses screw onto on the back of the machine.

Model WBVH5200JOWW: Locked up. Unplugged waited,

we had the same problem. I found a site that talked about the drain pump so my husband took the front panel off and found the drain plug. Have a bucket and some towels handy, unscrew the drain plug, ours is right there when take the cover off and its white. Unscrew it slowly, water will most likely start draining. Our drain trap was completely full of lint, a necklace, coins, and stuff! Once we cleaned it out, plugged it back in, it reset itself and works like a charm. Good Luck

GE washer won't fill with cold water

Cold water pipe had become frozen. FYI this model of washer has a nice feature whereas you can test each component i.e. valves, by setting the timer and reading the LED's on the front panel. Instructions are in the schematic.
