I keep getting the "ld" code. that's the it isn't draining code - ah, but it is draining. if i dump a bucket of water into the washer it drains fine. the pump just never stops & the washer never continues to the next cycle.
well, i actually fixed (i guess you can call it that) the problem before i read this. although i now grudgeingly use He detergent, i didn't always. when i didn't i had this problem often. i was washing 1, lone, very dirty towel & even though it was He detergent, i used enough for a large load. (it was a very dirty towel!) i wondered if sudsing was the problem, so i poured 3 mop buckets of water & some vinegar (kills suds), & then it worked. i did this process several hours earlier 7 or 8 times, but without vinegar, & only 1 bucket of water each time. i don't know if time, the vinegar, or the extra bit of water fixed it, but now it works - BUT after it worked i then got the "lf"(too long to fill) code. i only had to stop & hit start again to remedy this. still working fine. is my washer's computer nutty? thanks so much for your help, jenwell, i actually fixed (i guess you can call it that) the problem before i read this. although i now grudgeingly use He detergent, i didn't always. when i didn't i had this problem often. i was washing 1, lone, very dirty towel & even though it was He detergent, i used enough for a large load. Remove the console, there are 3 screws on the back of the console that hold it on. You will see a plastic hose goin to the machine control board. Remove it from the board and see if you can blow through it. If you can, you probably need a control board. If not then something has gotten into it. You should be able to blow through it easily. This is the pressure hose that tells the board when the machine has water in it. If it gets clogged with pressure in it, the control thinks it still has water in it. Post back to let me know what you find.
I think you had some dried soap scum in the pressure dome of the tub.(that is where the hose goes to I was telling you about) This will cause the control to be slow to sense when the tub is full and slow to sense when the water is drained. The vinegar does help this. There are some washing machine cleaners that work really well that are citric acid based. If you keep having this problem try some of them. Sometimes lint will get in it and cause the same problem, but with your detergent problem, I figure it was soap. Also, run it through a clean cycle with hot water to help get rid of any undissolved detergent. Post back if you need anymore help.
It is possible that it is nutty,LOL.

LD usually means long drain for washing machines. There may be something clogging the drain filter area, a problem with the drain pump (or something blocking the pump impellar), or a clog in the drain pipe. Please add your washer model number (including the prefix). Then I can check how to access the drain pump. Usually there is a panel on the side of the back that you need to remove to access the drain filter Unplug the washer first. Make sure to have a bucket nearby to catch excess water when you open the filter cover.
IH indicates that the washer is set for a 1 Hour delay. This can be cleared by powering off the washer.
Ld means long drain and is displayed when it takes longer than 5
minutes to pump out the water to a point where the pressure switch resets. To
solve this problem make sure that the drain filter pump assembly located inside
the bottom front panel is clean and after cleaning if the error returns then
the pressure switch needs to be tested and if bad then it needs replacement.
Please get back to me if you have any other questions.
Error code LD means long drain. This error appears when the washer takes more than 5 minutes to pump out the water till point where pressure switch resets. To resolve the issue you'll need to clean the drain hose, inspect if the drain hose is plugged. If the hose is fine, then remove the front kick panel and access the drain pump and filter, if you are unable to find the pump and filter remove the back panel as well and trace the drain hose to the bottom of the tub. There is a drain filter connected with the drain pump. It usually gets clogged, and needs to be cleaned every 6-8 months or so. The drain filter is a small white filter connected to drain pump with a hose. If it still doesn't work then you'll need to check the connections of the drain pump, check the electrical connections with a multimeter. Hope this helps... Please post back for more information.
Ld flashes when the water level does not change after the drain pump is on.
? Is the drain hose or the drain pump clogged?
? Is the drain hose height greater than 96′?
HI There I want to say is Merry X-Mas and a Happy New Year. I have found what you need and hope this get's you in the right direction. Let me know how it went.
Ld
Long Drain
Ld flashes
if it takes longer than 5 minutes to pump out water to a
point where the operating pressure switch resets.
Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display. Thank you for writing to fix ya. Best Regards Richard
you can use a shop wet vac on the drain hose to **** the rest of the water out then you can remove the hoses to check to see if anything is suct in hoses or pump-,mike
ld stands for long drain. If you can remove the bottom panel you will see the pump in the middle front which has a clean out you can unscrew. There is usually obstructions in the clean out such as a sock causing the long drain. When u remove the clean out cover alot of water will come out so a wet vac comes in handy.
