The P90 uses a rubber membrane switch to turn the metronome on/off it maybe that this has failed. Inside the rubber is a carbon contact that bridges over the PCB. If this gets dusty or worn out then it will not operate. This could be the cause, dismantle and clean and try again.
If not then it is with the electrical circuitry which would be harder to diagnose.
If the nine volt battery is good, then you plug the cable from your speaker amp. into the connector on the bottom rear, it turns the instrument's pre-amp ON, indicated by a blue light. Do not turn the main amp on till both ends of the cable are plugged in......
The metronome speed is controlled by the Tempo setting. The metronome controls only adjust the volume of the metronome and if the metronome is heard on the input or output recording. The Tempo button is below the Tempo label to the left of the LCD display on the right side of the Zoom R24.
Any electronic savy tech should be able to either solder the wire back on OR replace the connector for you. The battery connectors are available even from Radio Shack.
Press the "click" button and then set the tempo you want, press the "click" button again this will stop the metronimoe but is also sets the tempo in memory. The next time you press the "click" button it will be ready to go.
Anytime you press the tempo + or - it thinks you are trying to use the "Tap Tempo Function".
Turn on metronome. Make sure that metronome is not operating. If it is operating then press metronome switch to stop it. Now press up (^) or down switch. This will change the time signature.
