Re: How do I connect my linksys router and another router...
You haven't specified the version no of the router. If you would turn the router upside down, you can see the model no and the version no right next to it. Although, the configuration of all the versions would be the same, you still need to make sure it has the latest firmware if its a older version.
Here is what we need to do...
1. Connect the modem to the Internet port of the router 2. Connect the desktop to the port 4 of the router 3. With the router turned on, push the reset button on the router and hold it for 20-30 seconds. 4. Power Cycle: Unplug the power from the router and the modem. Wait 30 seconds and turn on the modem first. Wait 1-2 minutes till the ligts on the modem are steady. Turn on the router. 5. Wait till the lights on the router are all turned on (takes around 1 minute) 6. On the desktop, open your web browser 7. In the address bar, type 192.168.1.1 8. It must prompt you for a username and password 9. Skip the username and type the password - 'admin' 10. That must bring up the setup page of the router 11. There is tab on the top right corner - 'Status'. Click on that 12. In the status tab, you must see the internet ip address - 192.168.1.64, which is the ip address provided by the modem 13. Go back to the setup tab 14. In the setup tab, you would see the local ip address = 192.168.1.1 15. Change it to 192.168.2.1 16. Click on Save Settings (scroll down to the lower end of the screen to see this option) 17. Wait for 30 seconds and close the web browser 18. Power Cycle again (refer step 4) 19. Now internet must work on the desktop 20. By default, the network name (SSID) of the linksys router is - 'linksys' 21. You can go to the laptop(i assume it has windows xp), and try to connect to this network by - right click on the wireless icon in the system tray (on the right bottom corner of the screen) and click on 'view available wireless networks' 22. You must see 'linksys' as one of the available wireless networks 23. Try connecting to it and you laptop must work
Those steps are generalised and you might get stuck in exceptional cases. If this does not work, please initiate a chat session with any of the experts, if this does not work, because this may require some advanced troubleshooting which would not be possible using those short messages.

Hi Susie With related to your particular issue it seems like that your broadband modem is not configured for the router. There are basically 2 types of connection. DSL and Cable modem. Verizon, ATT are DSL and comcast other providers give you a normal cable broadband connection. If its comcast make sure the cable from the comcast modem is going to the internet port in the linksys router and also make sure that there is a system connection the linksys router and the cable from the system goes to any of LAN 1, 2, 3 and 4 ports. Then reset your cable modem by using a pin and inserting to the reset hole in the modem. You could use the same step to reset your linksys router as well .If its a verizon or dsl connection you need to put normally your username and password in the router page. here is the link to how to configure linksys for your internet modem. Here is a video as well on it? http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=vSAXMO7aNzg http://tinyurl.com/5tqqhl
Also post the linksys router model. your ISP modem model number and also information on how many systems are wired to the router and wireless and let me know if you need more help.
May be your router internet settings has been wrong. you must reset the router settings by clicking the router reset button. Pls locate the button and then put the internet cable into router internet port.
your SPA2102-R seems to have one ethernet connection and one internet connection.
your WRT54G-TM seems to have one internet connection and 4 ethernet connections.
What you are trying to achive is; plug a ethernet cable into the ethernet connection on your SPA2102-R then plug the other end into the internet port of the WRT54G-TM
hope this helps, I have assumed that you intend to use a DSL broadband supplier not ADSL.
if you are changing service from DSL to ADSL then your WRT54G-TM needs to be first in line configured and working. then plug the internet port from the SPA2102-R into any of the WRT54G-TM ethernet ports.
